Make a Clamshell Pillow Top with Kimberly Jolly

Welcome back to the final installment of the Quilt Goals 2023 challenge! This month, I took on the delightful challenge of crafting a clamshell pillow top for #QuiltGoals2023.

In my twenty-five years of quilting, I’ve never pieced a block like this one, but I’m up for the challenge! I’m using a recent favorite, Lighthearted by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, to sew with. I love the colors and floral designs of this collection.

The clamshell quilt is a traditional quilt with curves, and Latifah Saafir Studios has several patterns and rulers designed just for this type of piecing. Today, I’m using her 6″ Clammy Ruler and the Glam Clam Quilt Pattern. You can follow along with me as I sew in the quilt challenge video below!

It took me about three hours to complete this little quilt, which was much better than I expected. This challenge was more complicated than I thought it would be, but it also came out better than I thought my final quilt would. We can mark this cute clamshell project as done even if it’s not perfect. Thank you for following along with me as I tried something new!
