We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along. We’ve joined forces with 18 talented designers to bring you a 38-week quilt along with amazing sampler blocks and sew many options!
SEW together, STAY together
It’s difficult to see our quilty community in person right now, but we can SEW together to STAY together! This quilt along is a chance for quilters all around the world to connect each week for a regular sewing spree, try a variety of blocks, and celebrate every single amazing quilt in progress. There is nothing that warms our heart like fabric and friends, so spread the word!
How does it work?
We’ll release one block every Friday, starting on Friday, September 25, 2020 and ending on Friday, June 25, 2021. Make a date with us each Friday for a new block pattern on our blog, and see Kimberly show hers on our YouTube Livestream the same day. Each designer will also post their block on that day too!
If you’d like to get automatic updates, you can subscribe to the blog by signing up in the Email Subscription box or subscribe to our YouTube channel.
But it’s never too late to start – join us at any time! We have the Sewcialites Information Packet for you to download with fabric requirements, a coloring sheet and more.
Sewcialites Quilt
Kimberly started her quilt with a Fat Quarter Bundle of Homestead by April Rosenthal for Moda Fabrics and a Sewcialites Accent Fat Quarter Bundle for the half square triangles that go into finishing the quilt. She’s using 20708-36 (from On the Farm by Stacy Iest Hsu) for background, 24097-25 for binding and 24090-15 for backing (both from Homestead by April Rosenthal).
If you are after a different look, we have a page of fabric recommendations HERE with different fabric styles and great background fabric options. Please note that some of the collections come out after the quilt along starts.
How hard is the Sewcialites quilt?
The Sewcialites quilt is made up of 36 blocks designed by 18 designers. If you can sew an accurate 1/4″ seam and read a pattern, you’ll be in good shape. The block patterns are offered in three sizes: 3″, 6″ and 9″ finished. Each pattern is marked with the difficulty level, but they all have straight seams. They are all pieced with no foundation paper piecing or applique.
This quilt has THREE size options (3”, 6” and 9” finished blocks), so start by selecting what size quilt you want to make.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Can you make 6″ blocks from a Layer Cake?
Answer: If you use a different 10” square for each block and cut very carefully. Some of the blocks are pretty tight so there won’t be much room if you have to recut something. Kimberly made two blocks from each print. To do that you need Fat Quarters.
