Every year, we look forward to National Sew a Jelly Roll Day rolling around, and this year is no exception! We’ve put together a one-stop-shop of Jelly Roll inspiration here on the blog, and tomorrow, September 20th, Kimberly will be hosting a Livestream on the Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel.

Moda Fabrics has officially made the third Saturday of September National Sew a Jelly Roll Day! If you ever needed a reason to unroll one of those perfect little bundles of 2.5″ strips and get to sewing, THIS is the day. All you have to do is tear open a Jelly Roll, mark your calendar as “busy” (trust us, you will be having too much fun to leave your sewing machine), and spend your Saturday sewing up something sweet!

  231. I’ve used jelly rolls many time. Lately I’ve used them to make the Nantucket mini charm bags. Fat quarter also has this wonderful fusible interfacing that has a 2 1/2 inch grid on it. You can line up the squares and sew it according to how the lines go and the stuff is like magic fat quarter shop was the only place that I could find this grid. Very nice people to work with and explain things too. Also used the jelly rolls to make the crazy basket quilt. They are very handy to have around and it’s nice to see the different things people make with them.

  320. I started a jelly roll race and didn’t like how it looked so I took the 4 row strip and cut it into 8″ squares, then I snowballed them on 2 opposite corners with 2 1/2″ squares cream color. made a laptop out of it.
