Highlights from Fall Quilt Market 2023

International Quilt Market took place this weekend, and today, I’m sharing all about it. I’m Jessica, the Social Media Specialist at Fat Quarter Shop, and this was my second time attending Quilt Market! I hope you were able to experience the fun at Quilt Market through our Instagram posts and stories this weekend. Read on to see some of the beautiful fabrics and quilts, and enter to win a fabric giveaway!

Schoolhouse Debuts

Schoolhouse was a series of back-to-back sessions, and I attended some great ones! The premiere opener of Schoolhouse this year was Tilda, and she blew everyone away with the introduction of her 2024 fabric collection Jubilee and seasonal collections, Creating Memories. Then I caught some great sessions to learn all about new quilt supplies and patterns from G.E. Designs and Jillily Studio, all new collections from the Ruby Star Society designers, including a very exciting 10 Years of Magic celebration!

Next up was Tula Pink! She wowed us all with her upcoming Roar collection, a stunning BOM program, Big Woods, and, of course, her collaboration with Oliso Irons, which is making its way to everyone’s wish list! I later ended the day with Riley Blake Designs, and overall, it was a great time and all very inspiring!

Quilt Market Booths

The International Quilt Market displays for upcoming spring and summer fabric releases were fun to peruse. If you would like to reserve a collection or sign up to be notified for any of these, click on the links below to find them at Fat Quarter Shop.

I met Moda Fabric’s newest designer, Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life! She was debuting her first fabric collection, Flower Girl, along with many beautiful projects to sew with it! I personally cannot wait to begin the Flower Stand Block of the Month! Needless to say, her booth and everyone else’s were incredible this year, and I left with a very long “must-make list” for 2024!

Shoreline by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics is a follow-up collection to the beloved Nantucket Summer, and it was inspiring to meet Camille herself, too. She’s just as lovely as her fabrics!

Sweetfire Road’s first-ever Christmas collection, Once Upon a Christmas, got me in the holiday spirit. I can’t wait for it to come out next year, and I love that she is adding pink to our holiday decor! Christmas collections from Fancy that Design House and Corey Yoder are merry and bright!

One of the great things about Quilt Market was learning about the designers’ backgrounds and how they design their collections. Deb Strain was super sweet, and I learned she’s a painter and hand-painted all her fabric designs like this panel from Woodland Winter! She was there, painting a replica of her new panel for us all to see and to later give away at market!

Lella Boutique’s upcoming Halloween collection may be one I am most excited about! Hey Boo is more cute than creepy, and once again, I Iove the pink addition to the holiday decor!

I then got to meet our favorite dynamic duo, Lissa Alexander and Susan Ache! They were celebrating and signing copies of their new book with It’s Sew Emma, Celebrate with Quilts!

Sherri & Chelsi were showing off their cute Strawberry Lemonade collection, and we chatted about how we’re using it in our upcoming Charity Quilt Along, Moonbeams. They shared how excited they are to sew along, too!

This year, many of the Moda designers had interactive booths! Joanna of Fig Tree made strawberry pincushions with her visitors using her Jelly & Jam CollectionCathe Holden was using her fabrics to make buttons. So many fun activities were happening at the designer booths!

I later stepped into a colorful world at the Riley Blake booth and first met with Beverly McCullough! She was such a delight to meet in real life! She was sharing her new collection, Sweet Freedom, and the introduction of 18 new colors to her Dainty Daisy Basic line with Riley Blake Designs

J Wecker Frisch always stuns us with her incredibly cool designs, and this next year is going to be exciting with Old School and Pumpkin Patch and even a new book, White As Snow!

I also visited with Sandy Gervais to see her super cute Beggars Night collection and then with Jennifer Long of Sew A Story! Fun fact, Jennifer is a pattern designer for Riley Blake, and I also learned she has a school teacher background, which is why most or all of her collections tell adorable stories, much like the two she was showing at Market, To Grandmother’s House and Little Witch! They are both so cute!

Time for Sample Spree!

I was lucky to attend Sample Spree again, thanks to the kind staff at Moda Fabrics, and what an experience it was! Sample Spree is a chance for quilt shop owners to pick up fabrics debuting at Quilt Market. That way, they can make sample projects and quilts for their stores. Quantities are very limited and sometimes discounted, and this is the only chance people can get their hands on some of the new collections before they are available, so it’s very exciting for everyone!

        1. All the new lines are terrific! But since I need to pick just one, I would say Hey Boo by Lella Boutique is the one I am most excited to make a quilt with. I love how cute the fabric is and the addition of the pinks to the Halloween theme. Thanks for sharing quilt market with us!

    4. I look forward to Noah’s Ark by Stacy Iest Hsu. We have used her fabric for other projects and they turned out beautifully.

    5. Shoreline is absolutely gorgeous and my favorite although with so many beautiful choices it was hard to choose. But since my husband’s favorite color is blue and mine is green so it was a no-brainer!

  106. I’m loving Shoreline and Flower Girl and was just gazing lovingly at them on the Coming Soon tab.

  107. STARBERRY! by Corey Yoder
As soon as I first saw this line I was in love. There are many Christmas lines, but there is just “something” that makes my heart sing with this particular one. I don’t know if I will be able to afford it, but its one of those ones that I’m really looking forward to. I am thrilled at her quilt along that she will have with it too.
There are many others that I am in love with, but this was the first of the upcoming that I saw. I think all the designers have fantastic fabric lines coming out.

  108. Quilt Market sounds fabulous!! Shoreline has my colors and would go so well with my Nantucket Summer items that I guess that’s number one on my list. But Christmas colors always make me feel happy and get the butterflies going inside, so that’s right up there also!
