What’s on My Cutting Table?

Spring is here, and with it, there are new quilts to sew. I wanted to take a moment to share with you some upcoming quilts I’m excited to start working on and share some quilt along updates.

Quilty Fun Row Along

First, the Quilty Fun Row Along celebrating 10 years of Quilty Fun (the first book we published with Lori Holt), is going to be starting a little later than originally planned. This is due to delays with fabric that are out of our control. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to get their fabric before this quilt along starts, but we’re no less excited to get started in April now instead of March. You can download the full block schedule to follow along.

Piece & Quilt Sampler Quilt Along

If you’ve downloaded your Piece & Sampler Quilt Along Schedule, then you know that this month is all about getting ready to start sewing! The Shoreline precuts have landed, and the yardage is due soon. We expect the Piece and Quilt Sampler Starter Fabric Kit to ship out the first half of April, so everyone can have their kit in time to sew along starting April 15!

I’ve gathered my supplies and starched my fabrics, so I’m ready to start sewing my Shoo Fly and Dandy Star blocks to share on April 15. I’m sew looking forward to this quilt along with Susan Ache and Lissa Alexander, making the gorgeous cover quilt from their latest book, Celebrate with Quilts!

Vintage Bowtie Quilt Along

Last, but definitely not least, I’m excited to tell you that we have a fun quilt along to celebrate the Strawberry Garden Quilt Book! Joanna and I just love the Vintage Bowtie Fancy Quilts in the book, so we’ll be sewing those after the book comes out. Details for the Vintage Bowtie Quilt Along will be shared soon, so be on the lookout!

I better get back to sewing, but I’d love to know, what quilt alongs are on your calendar this year? Leave a comment below. Also, if you haven’t yet I’d love it if you joined me in my private Facebook group, Kimberly’s Stitch Squad, to see more of what I’m sewing, and to share and learn from other quilters.

Happy Quilting!

  1. I’m actually really glad the Quilty Fun Row-a-long is delayed. I’ve been super busy and behind on things until now and I didn’t think I’d be able to do it. Now I’m getting caught up and am looking forward to participating.

  2. I’m going the Heart of the Home QAL by American Patchwork and Quilting.
Our quilt group (farm girl chicks) is doing a Blooming Bunch QAL. Flowers and buttterflies and beehives from all of Lori’s books. It’s a year long one and can hardly wait to see what my quilt will look like!

    1. I’m going the Heart of the Home QAL also!! I’m not happy with my first log cabin star block and I have stalled as I have other projects going on as well. But I will get to it to finish up the stars.

  3. I am excited to watch you do these projects and I will jump in when I can. This is my granddaughter Gianni’s Senior Year of college and her last year to play softball so my schedule is pretty full til June.

  4. Plan on doing the Piece and Quilt Sampler quilt along. I am also doing the Vintage Sunburst quilt along but not very happy with my centers. Hope Kimberly has some tips next Friday. Also doing the Heart of the Home Quilt Along by Sherri McConnell which was in the American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

  5. I have been doing the Sherri McConnell block of the month sew a long and love that. I am also doing the Moda Blockheads sew a long. There are so many sew a longs that I would love to participate in, but 2 is enough for me. I love seeing all the sew a longs Kimberly is participating in and I love to see all her scrappy blocks too.

    1. I’ve printed the blocks for each month but I haven’t organized myself yet. I need to figure out what fabrics to use. I feel like a schmuck not having any of her fabric but want to do her BOM…..

  6. I am sewing along with American Patchwork and Quilting with the quilt designed by Sherri McConnell. It is my first sew a long. I bought Lori’s Quilty Fun book years ago and I am very excited to make this quilt using all my vintage scraps!

  7. I am also doing the Sherri McConnell 2024 BOM and loving it. I have been inspired to finish the 2022 Bliss QAL from you (FQS).

  8. I’ve been so excited for this SAL to start. After doing the Summer Memories quilt last year I was delighted when I got my book and saw all the gorgeous scrappy style blocks shown. This book is fantastic, just like Summer Memories. And I’ll be sewing with the Shoreline collection. I’m definitely overcommitted, but I don’t care!

  9. Can’t wait to start the Piece Sampler, also doing the Moda blockhead weekly, plus Sheri’s BOM and also her Heart and Home from the magazine. Oh and almost finished with BOM from Fat Quarter Shop just 2 more blocks. Just a little mix up to work on weekly. Love them all.

  10. I am doing the Piece & Quilt Sampler. I haven’t decided what fabric to use, but I am leaning on pink & blue.

  11. What a relief that the Quilty Fun Row Along 10th Birthday has been delayed. I knew I couldn’t start in March. I may be able to start in April, so I’ll assess my stash and try to come up with a kit in time.

  12. Any idea when the Strawberry Garden book might be back in stock? I must have missed it when it first became available. Thanks

  13. I’m just completing the FPP Petit Four Quilt-A-Long. Just in time to get prepared for the Quilty Fun Row Along. I’m so happy that you’re offering the quilt-along. Wanted to make it the first time around; now I have another opportunity. Thank you.

  14. I’m excited! I haven’t decided what line I will use for this QAL. I hope that FQS will show it colored in some of the other current lines. I would love to se it in Old Glory! I am currently doing A Quilting Life’s BOM, the Kona Solids BOM, Moda Blockheads 5, and Designer Mystery. Thank you, FQS for promoting so many sew-alongs!

  15. I saw the Quilty Fun Sewalong Companion pattern on the website. I am thinking of doing it instead of the row by row. Hope it would be okay to post this along with the Quilty Fun Row by row.
