Sewcialites 2 Block 3 – Patchy Days by Jackie MacDonald

We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along called the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along. We’ve joined forces with 24 talented designers to bring you all-new, unique sampler blocks! If you’re just joining us, you can find all of the details over on the Sewcialites 2 Landing Page. We’re excited to share Block #3 this week!

This week’s designer, Jackie MacDonald, designs under the name Sweetfire Road (@sweetfireroad). She brings beautiful artistry to her fabric designs and quilts. She designed the Patchy Days block, a patchwork block that uses flying geese and four patches. She said, “I’m crazy about my block because it combines two things I love… 4 patch blocks and half square triangles! Happy quilting!”

She sewed her 9″ block using the Wild Meadows collection she designed for Moda Fabrics. Visit the Sweetfire Road blog for more details on her Patchy Days blocks and Sewcialites 2 progress.

We’ve sewn the Patchy Days block with different collections in all three size options. The 3″ block is sewn with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics, the 6″ block in Dwell by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, and the 9″ block using Cinnamon & Cream by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.

You can join Kimberly for a live sewing tutorial of the Patchy Days Block live in the Friday Livestream on Fat Quarter Shop’s YouTube Channel.

The suggested fabric requirements and all the block patterns released so far will be posted on the Sewcialites 2 Landing Page, so don’t forget to bookmark it for later reference.

    1. Hi Linda, the links for the block patterns are always on the “DOWNLOAD BLOCK # PATTERN” text that is in all caps under the block images.

You can also find them on the supply page on our website, which is linked in every Sewcialites 2 blog post!

  1. I love your videos…. I’m such a “have to see how it’s made first” quilter. I’m going to make the little Christmas stockings for place settings at our annual Christmas dinner for adults with special needs. They will totally love them. Thank again for your amazing blog, insights, tips and videos!!
