We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along called the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along. We’ve joined forces with 24 talented designers to bring you all-new, unique sampler blocks! If you’re just joining us, you can find all of the details on the Sewcialites 2 Supplies Page. This week we’re excited to share Block #13, designed by Doug Leko!
This week’s designer is Doug Leko (@dougleko) of Antler Quilt Design and he designed the Innovate block. Doug sewed the 9″ version of the Innovate block in Greenstone by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics and shared some advice, “Don’t be afraid of this block and its points. Follow the pressing arrows on the pattern, all the seams will nest together and your point will come out great! Or you can press the seams open, so there really won’t be any bulk at all. You can change the placement of all three prints and the block will look completely different!”
Doug also created a table runner pattern for the Sewcialites 2 blocks called Ripples, which you can find at Fat Quarter Shop. The version he made features Blocks 11-13 in the same fabric as his block above.
We’ve sewn the Innovate block with different collections in all three size options. The 3″ block is sewn with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics, the 6″ block in Dwell by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, and the 9″ block using Cinnamon & Cream by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.
