Quilt Along for a Mint Inspired Year!

This quilt along was just “mint” to be! Inspired by Julep, Kona’s Color of the Year, we’ve curated a complementary fat quarter bundle and paired it with our favorite Courthouse Steps blocks for a minty fresh quilt experience that is the Mint Inspired Quilt Along!

For those daunted by the design of these quilt blocks look no further than our Courthouse Steps Foundation Paper Piecing Block Tutorial. Our video tutorial will guide you through everything you need to know and you can follow along with Kimberly as you work anytime you quilt!

Mint Inspired Quilt Supplies

You’re ready to get piecing once you’ve got your supplies, including the foundation paper! If you get stuck, refer to the directions on the paper piecing pad or back to Kimberly’s video tutorial to refresh your memory.

Mint Inspired Quilt

While these blocks may look like log cabins, don’t let them fool you! They’re actually Courthouse Steps Foundation Paper Blocks. The center square sits differently on them, but if you prefer to you can definitely sew with the 6” log cabin paper instead (that just may slightly alter your design).

The Mint Inspired Quilt is a lap quilt and finishes as a 48.5″ square. This is a casual quilt along compared to our usual style. This means it doesn’t have a set start or end date, but rather you can sew it anytime this year to participate! Kimberly will be sewing the Mint Inspired Quilt for a Quilting Livestream sometime this year, so be sure you’re subscribed to the Fat Quarter YouTube Channel to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

  1. I think this would be a neat cross stitch pattern in shades of “mint,” or other colors. If I had a full compliment of floss I’d totally mock it up!

  3. There was a different pattern shown with this new fabric that was pink and julep. Does anyone know what shade the pink is?

  4. Any hint on when you will start the sew along? I have limited time for sewing and want to make sure I get this one in.

    1. Hi Laurie! It’s a casual quilt along, so we won’t be following a specific schedule for this. It’s just one of the quilts Kimberly will be making this year. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  7. I had everything in my cart to buy. Got distracted and everything but the foundation paper was sold out when I came back.

      I’m looking into answers for Jennifer as well about the Mint Inspired bundle, but was wondering what other products specifically you were wondering about?

      I see the Seamline Glue Pen is out and the pink Add a Quarter Ruler (though other colors of this one are in stock and so is the pink set of two).

      I’ll let you know when I know more!
