Let’s Start The Heart of America Quilt Along!

Oh, say, do you see… another fun quilt along! Show your love of all things Red, White, and Blue with The Heart of America four-part quilt along. The beautiful Heart of America Quilt pays homage to the land we love (and as a bonus, it meets the size and design requirements to be a Quilt of Valor)!

The Heart of America Quilt is a beautiful medallion design that finishes at 60.5″ x 70.5″ It’s precut-friendly, too! It starts with a fat eighth bundle and some yardage for the background and accent.

Quilt Along Supplies

Although we sold out of the Heart of America Quilt Kit and Backing Set, there are still Fat Eighth bundles of Old Glory in stock, so you can use the information on the free pattern to select your fabrics. We have a few patriotic collections shown below that would make a lovely Heart of America Quilt!

We think that Vintage by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics also makes for another patriotic option!
The new Vintage by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics makes for another beautiful and patriotic option. We love how the Vintage Cream on White X’s background looks!

Don’t forget to download your copy of the Heart of America FREE PDF Quilt Pattern for the fabric requirements and schedule.

A Note on Triangles on a Roll

This quilt is great for confident beginners and you can give triangle paper a try if you haven’t! We love triangle paper because we easily get precise half-square triangles every time! The quilt pattern is written for traditional piecing, but if you’re a fan of triangle papers, you’ll use these two sizes:

There’s plenty of room to cut and use triangle paper on fat eighths! When using the H350 triangle paper on the red print fat eighths and the blue print fat eighths, customers can cut the paper into 2 – one x two sections to fit on the fat eighth.

Who is Sewing Along?

We invited some friends to join us, and they’re sharing their progress along the way! You can follow them on social media for inspiration and tips.

The Heart of America Quilt is also the right size and design to be sewn and gifted as a Quilt of Valor. A QOV is a quality, handmade quilt awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. William’s Honor and Cathy’s Quilt are QOV’s we’ve shared in the past! We donate to the Quilts of Valor Foundation each year, and hope you’ll let us know if you use this pattern to make a QOV quilt!

  1. Hello
I have an Apple laptop and not a PC…I cannot right click to join the quilt along. Can you send me a link. Thank you! Maybe I am not doing it right! 🤪

    1. Oh, it’s the right click to download and share it. It won’t take you to another page to join. But you don’t have to download the images to join. All you have to do is grab your supplies and sew along with us, and if you’re comfortable with it, share your work and tag us!

As someone who uses a Mac at home myself, you might try pressing and holding the Control key while you click the QAL badges using your mouse or trackpad. That usually works for me!
