Like our love for Christmas, the sweetness of this quilt and cross stitch combination is Evergreen! Gift yourself the joy of sewing and stitching with us during the Evergreen Mystery Quilt and Cross Stitch Along! For five weeks, weβll unwrap another part of this joyful mystery. Join us in sewing along to uncover this mystery and greet the season by stitching something new!
Hereβs a peek at the Evergreen Quilt, but the rest remains under wraps for now. This festive design would make a lovely wall hanging since it finishes at 31.5β x 37.5β. We are sewing ours in Favorite Things by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. If youβd like to sew a jolly version like ours, you can reserve your Evergreen Mystery Quilt Kit now, which includes fabric for the top, binding, and backing! You can also use the fabric requirements linked below with your favorite holiday fabrics.
The Evergreen Cross Stitch measures 109w x 109h, finishing as a 7.875β square when stitched on 14 count Aida! If youβre working with a different cloth, try using our free Cross Stitch Calculator to find your desired size.
The floss and cloth you choose are up to you, but we stitched ours with the Evergreen Classic Colorworks Thread Pack on Natural 14 Count Aida by Wichelt. Some other seasonal supplies weβd recommend include the Festively Gift Wrapped Enamel Needle Minder, Enchanted Ornament Enamel Charm, and the Berry Mad for Plaid Project bag.
All through July and the start of August 2023, we will release a weekly free video tutorial on our YouTube channel with a FREE quilt block pattern. Join Kimberly Jolly for this 5-part mystery quilt along, as she shows you how to sew a new block each week! Subscribe to the Fat Quarter Shop channel so you donβt miss it!

I can’t wait! I need a new wall hanging for Christmas!
Sounds interesting !
I did last years Halloween and Christmas and loved and enjoyed making them and displaying them.
Doing the Halloween now, and will join the Christmas one also! Thanks for all you do for the quilting world!
I wish that y’all would do another Christmas quilt like the Jelly Snowflake pattern. I loved that pattern a lot better than the row quilts. Could y’all do another like that one in the future?
Me, too! Have made several dozen in that pattern. Also makes a wonderful patriotic design.
Evergreen will prompt me to finish up Christmastime Mystery 2022..ha! I’m joining up for ALL the fun! I have all my needed supplies and ready to start in July.
Working on the Halloween one now. Looking forward to maybe doing this one too!

I have a quilt ladder on my staircase- given to me by daughter, and I use every available chair and the back of my couch. I love to celebrate with the seasons with quilts and table runners. This rack is definitely something I will need to have in my home.

@fatwuartershop where do I find the fabric requirements for the sew along. I can only find the stitch one? Thank you
Hi Lori!
When the fabric arrives this month we will share the fabric requirements on social media and here on the blog. So this is the right place to look, but expect the fabric in around 6/27 and once it is we will have the fabric requirements for all of you!
@fatquartershop where do I find the fabric requirements for the sew along I can only seem to find the stitch requirements?
Hi again Lori!
I don’t know if you meant to ask twice but I answered you above π If you have any other questions or if I can clarify anything let me know.
Happy quilting!
I made the Christmastime quilt and All The Trimmings cross stitch. I think this was the first time I used Classic Colorworks thread and the one stitch at a time method. Both turned out great!
I participated in the last two Christmas mystery stitch alongs. I’m all ready to start this one. Always fun to do!
I gifted the last Christmas mystery, this one will be mine.
Looking forward to sewing Christmas in July
Waiting for tomorrow July 4th!
Hi Charlene, we have had to delay the start of this to July 11 due to fabric shipping times. We expect to see the kits and fabric requirements within the next few days, and then we plan to get started on July 11.
Canβt wait!
fabric requirements call for a layer cake, can 2 charm packs work also for this instead? love this idea and can’t wait for it to start!
Hi Jenny!
Due to the cutting required there are pieces that are longer than 5″ so you’ll need a layer cake to cut those which is why we recommended it! π
I loved doing the Halloween mystery and I can’t wait to do the Evergreen Mystery. Thank you…
@fatquartershop – will we have enough if we starch the layer cake?
Hey Patricia!
This is a great question and the answer is yes, there is enough fabric in the layer cakes that you can absolutely starch them. π
Oh yah! I made last year’s Christmas mystery and I love it! I didn’t finish the quilting until retreat in February, but I can’t wait to hang it up for Christmas this year! I have order the fabric kit this year since it is so pretty – I can’t wait to get sewing!
