Welcome to the Fat Quarter Shop 2020 Charity Quilt Along, Bloom-Topia! Let’s gather our supplies and get started on the first release of Bloom-Topia! This has been long-awaited, sew we can’t wait to get to sewing with you. Release 1 contains the Over and Under Block and Bright Futures Variation.
We’re sewing with the Summer Sweet collection by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. If you’re sewing with something different, here are the fabric requirements to make this year’s charity quilt.

Together, Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics will match up to $20,000 of your donations in 2020 to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas fundraiser, tripling each dollar you donate.
This year’s charity quilt along will benefit Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas! We are offering all of the patterns to make this quilt for free, we just ask that you donate $5 per pattern download to this amazing organization and 100% of the proceeds from the pattern downloads will be donated to Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas. We are partnering with Moda Fabrics once again, who has generously worked with us since we started doing these quilt alongs to benefit our community.

Bloom-Topia Quilt Along
We have a great lineup of quilters (including the fabric designers, Sherri & Chelsi!) quilting along with us! Our quilters used a mix of the quilt kit and their own fabrics to make their blocks. Bonus Finishing Patterns for Bloom-Topia
For each milestone goal we hit with our fundraiser, we will be releasing extra finishing patterns you can use with the blocks. We’ll release them for each stretch goal reached! You have already helped us get halfway to our goal, so today we’re releasing two of these bonus patterns.
With your help, we can reach our goal of $30,000 in donations towards Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas! When you donate today, you’ll get us closer to our goal of granting five wishes, and closer to releasing a new finishing pattern.

Hi! I cannot figure out from the instructions, what size rectangle to cut. Help!!!!

For each butterfly block, cut out four 1.75″ squares from background/white. Cut one letter C unit and two letter D units from your print/color fabric. Does that make sense?
I am a brand new quilter and do not have any of the HST paper. Is there something I can use or do instead?
Hi Christyne, if you follow along in our pattern, you can make them without any special triangle paper. If you check out our beginner series on youtube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNTabBf7OG9I-atRF_8tbCEX0Oq1TYaat specifically Block 4 that will give you some tips for sewing a half square triangle.
