SewPINK and Sew Full of Heart: Woven Hearts Sew Along Kick Off

Our hearts are all aflutter today because we officially get to kick off the Woven Hearts Sew Along. If you are visiting the Jolly Jabber blog from the ByAnnie SewPINK blog hop and are just now hearing about this charity sewing opportunity, welcome! Every October, we like to highlight the importance of community and support for those facing the life-changing diagnosis of breast cancer by providing a free pattern and sew along. Keep reading for all the details on this sew along, and learn how you can get involved in our fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

The Woven Hearts Quilt measures 70.5″ square and is designed using the Woven Star Foundation Paper Pads. We made our quilt with the Dainty Meadow collection by My Sew Quilty Life for Moda Fabrics! You can purchase the Woven Hearts Quilt Kit and Backing Set to make one like ours, and the fabric requirements can be found on the free pattern if you would like to sew with your own fabrics. The Woven Hearts Sew Along Supplies Page has all the supplies you need.

Kimberly even made a tutorial for how to use the Woven Star Foundation Paper that you will need for the Woven Hearts Quilt!

Quilt Along Schedule

The Woven Hearts Sew Along runs for 8 weeks on Tuesdays, from October 1 – November 19. The goal is to piece ten blocks each week from now through November 12. Then, in the final week from November 13-19, you will be finishing the quilt! Keep an eye on the hashtag #FQSWovenHearts to see everyone’s progress and to share your own.

During the 8 weeks of the Woven Hearts Sew Along, the Woven Hearts Quilt Pattern is available for free on fatquartershop.com. Once the Sew Along is over, the Woven Hearts Quilt Pattern will be available for purchase exclusively at Fat Quarter Shop for $5.98.

Who is Sewing Along?

We invited some friends to join us, and they’re sharing their progress along the way! You can follow them on social media for inspiration and tips.

Double Your Impact with a Donation to BCRF

The Woven Hearts Quilt Pattern is a Fat Quarter Shop exclusive, designed especially for this fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The way the fundraiser works is that we provide the quilt pattern for free and encourage you to donate $15 to our campaign for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation from now through November 19, 2024. Fat Quarter Shop will match up to $5,000 of the donations raised. Together, we can reach our goal of $10,000 to fund lifesaving research to end breast cancer.

We’re thrilled to be able to auction this beautiful quilt generously donated by our friend Gina Tell! She pieced the quilt AND did the longarm quilting on it, and it’s beautiful! In October, we’ll auction her quilt to one lucky bidder, and 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to BCRF. You can follow her at @gina_tell_threadgraffiti and visit her website, Thread Graffiti to learn more about her beautiful Woven Hearts Quilt.

Since 2021, Fat Quarter Shop is proud to have donated more than $45,000 to breast cancer charities with the support of the generous quilting community. This year, our fundraising goal is $10,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). This amazing charity is responsible for discovering the BRCA genes and they fund scientists who’ve made numerous breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer. For people everywhere, more wins against cancer can’t come fast enough, and we’re proud to join the fight. Will you join us?

  1. This is an adorable pattern. Thank you so much for your willingness to support Breast Cancer Research. Early detection saves lives. Ladies, get you mammograms. This saved my life and I am eternally grateful for this technology.

  2. I am already sewing some of the blocks! My sister was just diagnosed with breast cancer so am making the quilt for her. Our mom died of metastatic breast cancer and I am a breast cancer survivor. Needless to say this is near and dear to my heart, no pun intended. Thank you for the pattern and supporting breast cancer awareness.

  3. I love what you are doing for breast cance. I just came home from having mine removed. I am going to make a quilt for myself so I have will always know I will win the fight

  5. I was so excited when I first read about this project. I bought the papers, made my donation, downloaded the pattern, checked my stash, and started sewing. Now that it is “official”, I would like to post my progress, but I do not have an Instagram account. Is there somewhere else I can share?
