We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along called the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along. We’ve joined forces with 24 talented designers to bring you all-new, unique sampler blocks! If you’re just joining us, you can find all of the details on the Sewcialites 2 Supplies Page. This week we’re excited to share Block #12, designed by Barbara Groves!
This week’s designer is Barb of Me & My Sister Designs (@meandmysisterdesigns)! She sewed the 9″ version of the Captivate block in her Reindeer Games collection for Moda Fabrics. Barb designed the Captivate block, which features nine patches and half square triangles.
She also shared the following about her block, “I’m crazy about my block for 2 reasons! The first block I ever made was a pinwheel and since then, I’ve loved making half square triangles. I especially like making them using triangle papers because they turn out so perfectly every time. I think I also like the idea of sewing on the dotted lines. My second favorite block is a nine patch. I’m crazy about how nine patches can make a statement with a solid and repeating center OR I’m also crazy about the scrappy things that can happen! What a better way to combine what I’m crazy for in the same block!”
We’ve sewn the Captivate block with different collections in all three size options. The 3″ block is sewn with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics, the 6″ block in Dwell by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, and the 9″ block using Cinnamon & Cream by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.
