  1. This is probably my least favorite sew sampler box so far, and I’ve been getting them over a year. I’m not crazy about the fabric or the pattern that came with it and I’m not a Fiskars fan (I had this exact rotary cutter and it fell apart). But the little ruler is interesting and I always appreciate the barn block pattern. One disappointing month won’t make me stop getting the boxes and it wasn’t a 100% disappointment.

  2. What a great box. Beautiful fabric, clever ruler, and another rotary cutter – what’s not to like? I’m already looking forward to next month.

      1. I liked the completeness of the box too. Won’t have to spend more for the finishing kit. Liked also it was just a table runner(running out of people to give quilts to.)

  3. Loved the box. Already made the table runner, it is just so darn cute. Always like something in the box, but this time I couldn’t wait to make the project. Will use that ruler again. Thank you.

  4. I received my first sampler box last month and didn’t care for either the pattern or the fabric but I’m thrilled with this month’s box! Badd a bing fabric and I can’t wait to try the Dresden block.

  5. Enjoyed the box, but like others, it would have been nice for something more fall-ish. Can’t wait to try the new ruler, too many projects on the go right now to give it a go.

  6. I loved my first sampler box! I’ve never made a Dresden plate so I first tried the pattern out in some random charm squares from my stash in fall colors. It is beautiful! The fabrics are some I never would have purchased, since I’m drawn to jewel tones, but the Sampler Box stretches my options.

  7. Loved the box and everything in it. Have almost finished the project. Keep up the good work!

  8. This is my favorite box this far! I absolutely loved everything inside. Thank you so much for all the thought you put into these boxes.

  9. Not crazy about the project. Would rather have something Fallish. Will make the table runner using different fabric. The way the, pattern says to cut the fabric makes the table runne r too busy, maybe Fall f abridged would be cute. I have been getting the boxes from the start of the program.

  10. The project fabric isn’t my colors. So I’ll probably make a project out of the fabric to give as a gift. I’ve wanted a small cutter, but had never purchased one. Was hoping for something fall in color, not the usual pastels.

  11. This is my 3rd box and, like the others, there were wins and yawns. Two rotary cutters in 3 months when I have quite a stash of them already was a bit disappointing but it didn’t diminish the value of the box. I adored the fabric even though it’s ‘not in season’. By the time I get around to it, it will be!! We all know the nature of subscription boxes and it isn’t going to be a 100% hit every time but all in all, it’s worth it and I love having a little surprise to look forward to every month. ♡

  12. I loved my September box!I loved how it had everything in it to complete a project!!!!! That was so exciting!

  13. I loved everything in the box! I even ordered more of the fabric and the double wide dresden ruler and book you offered. Some months I don’t care for the fabric in the box, but it always seems to grow on me. It’s always a nice treat when I see the little turquoise box in my mailbox. 🙂

  14. I liked everything in this box but wished I had used the fabric for something else. I am a beginner quilter and I found the cutting with the ruler to be very difficult.

  15. I loved everything in this box. In fact, I didn’t have an exacto knife to do some intricate cutting, but that little rotary cutter did the trick. Sharp and precise. Thank you. I look forward to making the table runner using that ruler to make the Dresdens. I also love that the background and the binding fabrics are included. Another home run, this box. Thank you again.

    1. I put some ‘dots’ that stick to the back and make the ruler ‘non-slip’.
It helped a lot to give stability while cutting. They are True Grips that came in a Sew Sampler box.

  16. I loved the September box. I always like new techniques and this Dresden looks like a winner. I already have a Christmas charm pack to make a runner. I liked having every thing to finish the project. I didn’t know batting came in a table runner size

  17. I would’ve loved this more had it been a summer month. Great fabric and pattern. However, too summery. I was hoping for a fall theme! Can never have too many rotary cutters. I have the Dresden ruler already as well as the book for Dresden patterns. I still love getting my goodies every month.

  18. Loved this box! It was nice to have everything to compete the project, although I don’t expect it in all future boxes. Excited to try out the rotary cutter!

  19. I liked this month. I was surprised to see two Dresden rulers in a row, but they are very different sizes and looks and I am glad to have them both. I think this will make a really cool runner in Christmas colors and may even make a tree skirt with the double wide ruler. Always enjoy being pushed out of my comfort zone.

  20. I cancelled my subscription after months of the same color theme and unused, uninspiring boxes that are just sitting on my shelf. I’ve decided to treat myself once a month to a $30 item that I will actually use.

  21. I liked the box but once again, cancelled my subscription. I love receiving the boxes but I just have too many of the projects (like all of them since the beginning minus one month that I missed) piling up that I haven’t had time to put together. If I can finally get some of these projects started then I can think about resubscribing!

  22. I’m still waiting for my box (it’s got a long way to come!) but I’m loving the glimpses I have seen. I wouldn’t normally buy that style of fabric, so a charm pack is a good way for me to try something different.

  23. I loved this box! I ran into the studio and have already made the Dresden centers! This was super fun! One of the best boxes ever! Love that it was a whole project in a box!

  24. I love them all. What I don’t use I put into a game for our Christmas party at our quilt guild, The Material Girls.
    Thanks,
    Deb…

  25. I love Septembers Choices!!!!! I don’t mind the spring fabric because I love cherries!! We can take the pattern and make it into any season we choose. Good Job people at Fat Quarters!!!!

  26. Love this box… working to complete the table runner… perfect plattern for a companion sewer’s first DRESDEN ADVENTURE! Thank you love it…will be sewing up in Halloween prints very soon!

  27. another box that just didn’t do it for me. I’ve finally cancelled my subscription! Tired of waiting for something with the WOW! factor.

  28. This box was great. I know how hard y’all work putting these boxes together & I appreciate it. Keep up the great work!

  29. Not a fan of cherry pickin’ type fabric.Fiscars not a good cutter.Another box that I will give most of the items away. Will keep barn block pattern. Seems like most of the fabric is the same these days in the boxes. Its fall, should have something fall in box.

  30. Loved that I didn’t have to buy another finishing kit, but would have preferred fall-themed fabric. It was interesting that the ‘exclusive’ pattern was available for sale (but the fabric kit was not). Now my take on exclusive-members only patterns is that they are ‘exclusive’ because they probably are not good enought to sell (there were some exceptions, like Kim Diehl’s from last December). So I was glad to see that the pattern was for sale, and that Moda was giving us something they actually want to make money on. I liked the dresden template, because this one has the inner and outer points turned under, and I don’t have to applique that darn circle in the center. The pattern generates a lot of waste, so if I make it I’ll be adding a lot of scraps to my crumb bucket. (I cringe thinking that other people may be shoving all these scraps into the garbage — NOOOO!)

  31. Enjoyed the project, have not sewn it on the backing yet, able to make 4 blocks with careful cutting and sewing edges of uncut right and left side and top and bottom together. I don’t usually sew projects that wastes so much fabric, but did this one. Fabric not my style, so will be gifted as donation lap quilt. I will try to use leftovers in craft project.I would rather have an Olfa cutter, after testing out the one we got, so enjoyed knowing that and no temptations to buy other than Olfa, even on sale. I love the blue box surprise, the comments, the testimonies and those willing to comment and risk being shamed for expressing opinions. Thank you FQS for your efforts!

  32. I LOVE cherries! I had already received my order of Badda Bing from FQS so this was a bonus. I think the template is very cool and easy to use and I like the pattern, too. So now I love MORE cherries! Thanks for another fun box…

  33. I loved the fabric, the pattern and the fact that we received the finishing kit! I have been asking for a runner in my box reviews so Im happy we finally got one!! I think I will start requesting “in season” fabric in my reviews now=) Thank you Fat Quarter Shop!

  34. It was quite a treat to have a complete project in the box. I do hope this happens more frequently. I think the doublewide dresden ruler is very cool and did order the full size one along with the book.
Donna H – Thanks for sharing how you made a fourth block! What a great idea!
Overall, Iam happy with this month’s box and looking foward to the next one.

  35. I like the colours and as I am an Aussie – we are just coming into Spring so lovely fresh colours. I have always wanted to try the double wide Dresden but was worried about the size – I like that My Sister and Me have made a mini for charm packs. I am going to give this project ago – I will add to my other projects 🙂

I like this box and am very glad you included the background fabric and binding fabric.

  36. Great box, fall colors would have been nice but so happy not to have pale colors. I’m a fan of the 28mm cutter. I have one that I use constantly for squaring up and trimming foundation pieces and I’m happy to have a second one as I frequently hide the one. The small double wide will be so much easier for small wedges. All I all a great box. Thank you

  37. For the first time ever I had to start the project IMMEDIATELY. It was great to feel so inspired. Thankyou. No negativity from me.

  38. I love this box. I really appreciated that it included the ruler as well as larger cuts of fabric that I could use for other projects if I’m not crazy about the charm pack. I’m going to make this cute pattern even though I didn’t think I would like the colors. I enjoy trying new things!

When I see the mix of the charms and the backing it looks so cute and cheery. Thanks for including the rotary cutter too! The smaller cutter is good for curves and smaller pieces.

  39. I too loved the project BUT would have enjoyed a FALL project! Thank you FQS for the finnishing kit. I look forward to completing this cute project.

  40. This was a great box! I loved everything in it and I will be getting started very soon. Thank you!!
