We recently had the wonderful opportunity to have one of our very close quilty friends, Christopher Thompson aka The Tattooed Quilter (@the_tattooed_quilter), come visit the Fat Quarter Shop and make some video tutorials with us! Today, we are sharing the videos where Christopher shows us his newest fabric collections, Blossom, and beginner-friendly tutorials on some more advanced quilting techniques such as applique and foundation paper piecing.
Christopher’s newest basics collection, Blossom for Riley Blake Fabrics, is here! This collection comes in 40 different colors, from pastels to saturated colors (and a dash of metallics), and is so versatile that it can go into any project! Christopher goes into all the details about his newest collection in this video.
Raise your hand if you’re intimidated by foundation paper piecing (*hand raised*). Put all your worries at ease with this video tutorial Christopher did with us where he shows us how foundation paper piecing gives you absolutely perfect piecing, how to make your own templates, and how to turn it into a simple and beautiful table runner.
Based off his two French Bulldogs, Edie & Edna, Christopher designed the Edie & Edna Mini Quilt! This mini-quilt does use applique however with the printable applique shapes Christopher uses in this video tutorial, Christopher shows how he likes to applique, and how you can make a beautiful masterpiece by layering the shapes!
How to make a Churn Dash Block
Christopher shakes things up on the traditional churn dash block by doing the blocks in two different colors! This beginner-friendly video tutorial will leave you with the completed Merry Go Round Mini Quilt made up of four scrappy churn dashes.
How to use a Sew-In Quilt Label
