Pillow Talk Pillow Fight - Round 2 - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Pillow Talk Pillow Fight – Round 2

Welcome back for round 2! Edyta Sitar’s new pillows from Pillow Talk:  25 Lovely Pillows for Your Home Sweet Home, sparked the idea for a fun contest and we’re rolling on with our second pair of contenders – Elise Baek and Jen Van Orman!

In our Pillow Talk Pillow Fight two contenders go head-to-head each week with their creations based on the patterns in the Pillow Talk book. This competition among friends is accompanied by weekly voting, plus a monthly roundup with the chance for prizes and glory for that month’s winner and one lucky voter. At the end, the top two will go up for a final vote. Who will be the Pillow King or Queen? You get to decide!

The participating designers and quilters can sew pillows, mini quilts or other projects inspired by the book. With 25 amazing designs, plus a full alphabet, the possibilities are endless! Check out our announcement post to see all the talented participants!

Without further ado, let’s see what they made!

Jen Van Orman’s Dot Dot Dot

Fussy cut circles in a rainbow gradient make this pillow so magnetic! Jen Van Orman of Heritage Threads collected whimsical images from a variety of designers including Heather Ross, Tasha Noel and Ruby Star Society. She wrote about it in more detail on her blogThe Dot Dot Dot Pillow Kit takes the work out with 36 pre-cut applique shapes backed with fusible webbing.

Elise Baek’s Dot Dot Dot

Elise Baek of Elise and Emelie made her pillow in rich, romantic reds and low-volume backgrounds in Lower the Volume by Capsules by AGF Studios for a pillow that’s sure to woo her Valentine! A stripy binding ties it all together.

Voting for Your Favorites

Each Thursday we invite you to vote for your favorite pillow project here on the blog. Find us on social with #PillowTalkPillowFight.

  1. Where are we supposed to vote? Here?
Is there a link? or just comments?

I like Jen Van Ormans the best bc I love colors
Elises pillow is super adorable too. My favorite color is RED

So, I vote for Jen Van Ormans pillow

    1. There is a section to vote under the bracket! You should see two buttons with the bloggers and their pillows to the right! You can choose a button and choose “submit”!

  2. This round is hard. It’s like asking to choose between your children. You have Art Gallery Fabrics up against Cotton & Steel / Ruby Star. I love both. Both are beautiful pillows. I am going to have to go based on technique esthetics. They differ and although they are meant to offer a different feeling, one does look better in the long run.

  3. This is so much fun. As a former Athletic Secretary I love your playoff brackets. Let the games begin! It’s nice to see so many different ideas for creativity by different individuals.
