Introducing the KONA 2024 Color of the Year! - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Introducing the KONA 2024 Color of the Year!

The highly anticipated KONA Color of the Year for 2024 has arrived, and we’re thrilled to embark on a quilting adventure with it! Julep, a breathtaking green, can elevate any quilt project to refreshing heights. Armed with this newfound favorite Kona Cotton Solid, we’re looking forward to the new year.

Who can resist adding another versatile gem to their fabric collection? Robert Kaufman creates a standout shade for their KONA Cottons lineup every year, dubbing it the Color of the Year. They then craft free patterns and projects that showcase it and symbolize that particular year. Last year, the spotlight fell on Cosmos.

Quilt it Up!

To celebrate this new addition to our favorite colors, we’ve redone some of our most popular quilt patterns in Julep fabric.

We’re also planning an exciting quilt along with the design below that will use our upcoming Mint Inspired Fat Quarter Bundle (which includes Julep), and we’ll be sharing all the details in the new year, so stay on the lookout for this exciting project to hit our blog!

Free Quilt Patterns with Julep

Robert Kaufman has released several free quilt patterns in Julep to celebrate this bright color. Check out each of these patterns to make with the Julep Color of the Year precuts (Roll Up, Charm Packs, and 10″ Squares) and yardage. Tell us in the comment section how you will use Julep this year!

We’re suckers for some pretty plants! Succulent swirls with Julep, like new sprouts in your garden. This 48.5″ x 60.5″ quilt is an elegant quilt for beginners and blossoms with beauty.

  142. I love this color of green with purple. I see a purple and green quilt in my future. I just need to find the perfect pattern for it! This reminds me so much of some of the old, old quilts that we have inherited from my grandmother and my husband’s grandmother and this is the color that was used in the background. So special!

  143. Love julep. It’s a great extension to a palette of greens. I’d like to see it into a Christmas quilt with red, pink and aqua.

  144. I have several past years of Kona color of year fabrics. Have a pattern to use making one block per color/year. Julep has been ordered to add to the blocks. My goal is to get the blocks started in February.

  145. Several years ago my daughter had me purchase a piece of asian inspired fabric that had this exact color predominately featured. I haven’t be able to find any companion fabrics to use with the piece. I am super excited to now have Julip to start building a palette to create a new quilt for her!

  152. What a calming and welcoming color! I am going to do the second quilt shown because it looks like two patterns in one and it has such pretty movement to it! Thank you for the inspiration! And HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  153. Love the mint color! I can see it in a lot of the quilts I do. I may need a bolt for them all. 🙂

  154. I would like to use it as a background for a double wedding ring quilt.
I think it would look stunning.

  155. This is my favorite color! I would use it as a background for a flower quilt or some new place mats.

  156. Julep is a perfect color for 2024 for so many reason…it is bright, cheery, and mixes with so many options! Can’t wait to use it in a new project 🙂

  157. Beautiful shade. Plan to do Duality, next spring. Finishing quilts for grandchildren and nephews. Gave one Christmas and giving one for a birthday today. Being 80 years, don’t send out pics of quilts. Not being technically inclined, don’t know hot to do that. Perhaps someone can give me instructions.

    Happy New Year

  158. I have a niece graduating this spring and this fabric would be a great jumping off point to get started
