The highly anticipated KONA Color of the Year for 2024 has arrived, and we’re thrilled to embark on a quilting adventure with it! Julep, a breathtaking green, can elevate any quilt project to refreshing heights. Armed with this newfound favorite Kona Cotton Solid, we’re looking forward to the new year.
Who can resist adding another versatile gem to their fabric collection? Robert Kaufman creates a standout shade for their KONA Cottons lineup every year, dubbing it the Color of the Year. They then craft free patterns and projects that showcase it and symbolize that particular year. Last year, the spotlight fell on Cosmos.
Quilt it Up!
To celebrate this new addition to our favorite colors, we’ve redone some of our most popular quilt patterns in Julep fabric.
We’re also planning an exciting quilt along with the design below that will use our upcoming Mint Inspired Fat Quarter Bundle (which includes Julep), and we’ll be sharing all the details in the new year, so stay on the lookout for this exciting project to hit our blog!

Love the julep and peach quilt! I would like to make that one. It is a refreshing and exciting color. Thanks, Kona!!
I love the many colors in the teal/aqua family so this would fit right in. I will have to think of a pattern to use: maybe a Sea Glass one.
What a pretty colour! I was expecting something darker/more vibrant since they had a pastel-y one last year, but they will go together nicely.
Love the color. I’m making mostly wall hanging lately and I think this one would be a good color to start to make a spring flower wall hanging.
My daughter loves the new color. It would go well in a spring quilt. I also like the Mint Julep pattern.
Have two patterns Upscale Plaid and Antique Lace planning to use Julep on.
I love this color and will definitely be making something from it.
Just found out I have 2 great grand babies on the way – I plan on using Julep in one of the baby quilts.

I would make the free pattern Mint Julep!!! I love the peachy color with the Julep.
I’m making a quilt top with 30’s fabric. I think the mint julep fabric would be perfect for the sashing. Now I need to figure out how much yardage I’ll need.
Green happens to be one of my favorite colors. I think I may try the Succulent swirls quilt. I love the purple and green together so beautiful! I am sure I will find many uses for the Julep fabric.
I love Kona solids! In 2024, I plan to mix this gorgeous color (Julep) into my Sewcialites 2 quilt, which is still a work in progress!
I love all things, Green! This would make a great background for a navy blue scrappy quilt!!
I would love to make an ice cream cone quilt with this fabric. I love the color. Reminds me of my mom, she had some Victorian chairs upholstered in this color. They were beautiful!

Wow, wouldn’t this make fantastic 2-color quilt? Or mixed with a teal or red or pink. So many options.
I would use the julep fabric for the Succulents pattern from Robert Kaufman. Love the green with the shades of purple!
I love this color of green with purple. I see a purple and green quilt in my future. I just need to find the perfect pattern for it! This reminds me so much of some of the old, old quilts that we have inherited from my grandmother and my husband’s grandmother and this is the color that was used in the background. So special!
Love julep. It’s a great extension to a palette of greens. I’d like to see it into a Christmas quilt with red, pink and aqua.
I have several past years of Kona color of year fabrics. Have a pattern to use making one block per color/year. Julep has been ordered to add to the blocks. My goal is to get the blocks started in February.
Several years ago my daughter had me purchase a piece of asian inspired fabric that had this exact color predominately featured. I haven’t be able to find any companion fabrics to use with the piece. I am super excited to now have Julip to start building a palette to create a new quilt for her!
I’m usually not a fan of green, but the Kona Julip color of the year for 2024 is absolutely stunning. I’ve downloaded the free patterns-Thank you so much for giving us the Robert Kaufman patterns from your FQS. You are so generous to us. I’m going to make the Duality pattern. I hope I win. That would be a great start for my 2024 quilting.

Beautiful shade. Plan to do Duality, next spring. Finishing quilts for grandchildren and nephews. Gave one Christmas and giving one for a birthday today. Being 80 years, don’t send out pics of quilts. Not being technically inclined, don’t know hot to do that. Perhaps someone can give me instructions.
Happy New Year

Green is my favorite color and this will go nicely with my green stash!
I have a pattern called Judy’s quilts. I want to use it on that quilt
I just learned that Julep is color of the year. I’d look for an antique two-color quilt pattern. I think Julep would be beautiful with just a white or cream.
Oh my goodness! This color will go in my kitchen! I may put a border of it on my already hanging curtains. It will also be a background for a chicken wall hanging. I love it!

Hmm…either the center for a log cabin quilt (maybe using one of the larger curvy log cabin CG rulers). Maybe a two color quilt with a softer appearance

Since Julep is the exact color of my Elnita ef2 sewing machine, I think making a sewing machine cover for her would be an ideal project to use those charm squares for! Plus, depending on how much I have leftover, a mug rug and the rest would be great in a scrappy quilt.
