Happy World Cross Stitch Day 2020!

We’re busting our stitches today because we get to celebrate World Cross Stitch Day with all of you! The love of cross stitch is celebrated far and wide, but especially here at home, where most of our stitching is done! That’s why this year, we are celebrating with our low-cost Happiness is Homemade Downloadable PDF Pattern!

The Happiness is Homemade pattern is an easy, beginner-friendly pattern we can all stitch up together. Celebrate the day by stitching at home, on a video call with a friend and on the Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube Channel with Kimberly. You can watch Kimberly’s FlossTube Livestream where she stitched her whole piece, then watch Kimberly’s video tutorial where she shows how she finished her piece!

Cross stitch supplies you’ll need

You can stitch up this pattern however you like! It only requires four skeins of floss and 14ct Aida or 28ct Linen cross stitch cloth. We’ll show you what Kimberly used if you would like to do the same!

Stitch along with Kimberly

Kimberly stitched her piece live on the Fat Quarter Shop FlossTube Channel Wednesday, August 12. You can watch her stitch by stitch along with the cross stitch community as she answers questions and talks all things cross stitch with all of you!

If you are reading via email, please click here to watch the video.

Done with your stitching? It’s time to finish your piece! Kimberly finished hers in a hoop with a sticky board covered in fabric. This super simple finishing is cute and unique! You’ll have your piece finished in no time and ready to be displayed anywhere.

This finish is super easy! Kimberly shows you how she did it step-by-step in just a few minutes with this cross stitch finishing video tutorial.

Finishing supplies you’ll need

There are a few tools you will need to recreate this look or to make it your own if you are also finishing your project in a hoop. Kimberly used a 6″ plastic hoop, but any hoop similar in size will work well!

  1. I have just started cross stitching. I find to to be fun and relaxing. Although the counted cross stitch to me is some what difficult to keep track off I still enjoy it.

    1. The link is the first line in the cross stitch supplies you need or look at WWWfatquartershop.com

  2. Thank you for posting the “Happiness…” design. What a good reminder for us all.
I do wish you didn’t specify the brand of hoop, as newcomers may not realize that a 6” hoop is available elsewhere.
Please patronize Independent needlework shops. Small businesses provide a lot of encouragement and personal assistance, and deserve our support, especially now.
    Happy World Cross Stitch Day!
