20 years ago this month, I opened Fat Quarter Shop as a hobby. I never dreamed it would grow to include an incredible community of talented quilters and cross stitchers. I couldn’t predict the community we would build around quilting and cross stitch.

Shopping with FQS is where I first found some of my favorite designers early in my quilting journey 10 years ago. Little did I know how much I would learn from all the many many tutorials and quiltalongs. My favorite quilts I’ve made are with French General fabrics, but more recently I’m loving my Zen Chic collections and projects.

I made Lori Holt’s Kaleidoscope quilt for my dear cousin when my sweet aunt passed away. It was a true labor of love, but turned out to be such a sparkling and joyful quilt. My cousin was so touched and so appreciative.
My most favorite quilts have been the mystery quilts, they are always fun. The best video series was the Ultimate Beginner Quilt videos. I have referred to them many times. The most favorite fabric is whichever fabric I am currently working with. FQS has been the BEST quilt and cross stitch store. Also, the YouTube videos are extremely well done and I am always learning from them. Your quilting for causes is very generous and I really like how you give back to the community. Congratulations on your milestone! I sewed your “Fat Eighth Fruitcake” quilt a couple of years ago. It was the first quilt I sewed following a pattern and could not have done it without your tutorial. It won ( a very generous! ) 3rd place in our local fair and hangs in my foyer. It was sewed using winter-ish fabrics, and even though it’s now summer, it’s staying up! Thank you for everything you and your team do!

My most memorable quilt was the 2 color quilt that I made for my sister in law. It was the FQS 2 color quilt along. She loved the quilt so much that she took it when she went for her chemo. I have made quite a few from supplies I purchased from FQS, but this quilt had the most impact.

I have been receiving the subscription box for several years as well as three or four of the fat quarter clubs! It is never a disappointment!
The most memorable quilt I’ve made with FQS fabric was the Witches Night Out sampler pattern from the It’s Sew Emma book with fig tree fabrics. I ordered enough to make two and gifted one to my dear aunt.
I made a quilt using Lori Holt’s Cottage something fabric purchased at the Fatquarter Shop.
There is not just one but the designer mystery series is my favorite!

I have followed the Fat Quarter Shop for years and it is one of the first places that I have always checked first for bundles – I have no local quilt shop — congrats on your 20 years it is amazing at times how a small family business started in a home can grow isn’t it. I always trust your advice if I send a question about color before I order – y’all have always helped.
I’ve learned all about starching and using a Clapper. Also started using the Lori Holt design boards.
My most memorable quilt I made with Fat Quater Shop fabrics was a mystery quilt that was to benefit a child with cancer. The quilt-along was set up for a small quilt or a large quilt so I made one of each. The small one was made from GORGEOUS fabrics with butterfly wings and gold thread highlights in it. The large quilt I made with a fabric line called Sew Stitchy that related to sewing products. It was so much fun to put something together without knowing the final product. Trusting in the process was outside my comfort zone but so worth it in the end.
Fat Quarter has been my go-to shop for some time now. I can always find what I need and at a reasonable price. I check the Flash sale everyday too. Thank you, Kimberly, for your generosity and sharing your talents with us for 20 years. Here’s looking forward to the next 20 years!!

I would love a tour of the warehouse and the whole operation. Maybe that could be a video sometime? I could never work there because I would have to have some of everything! Speed of service is awesome. One day I was headed to the computer to check on the status of an order. I glanced out my front door and it was already here!

Happy Belated Birthday! I am totally a newbie. First quilt I made was a small one, more like a table topper or wall hanging, but I made it for our miniature schnauzer to cover up in the winter and to lay on in the summer.

The you tube videos have opened my quilting world in a whole new direction. Buying fabric from The Fat Quarter Shop on line has introduced me to fabrics that I never would have seen in stores near me. The annal Make A Wish QAL is truly amazing, my son was a recipient of A Wish and I will always want to be able to help others and bring a smile to their lil faces. The endless supply of how to videos has provided opportunities for me to try new quilt blocks that I never would have tried on my own. Thank you for your 20 years of service and to 20 more!!!!!
Congratulations on 20 years of quilting inspiration. I learned to quilt through the sew sampler subscription boxes and watching FQS videos – thank you for introducing me this lovely hobby! My favorite quilt that I made was from the The Nesting Box, which was a limited edition mystery box in 2018. I thought The Nest Box was perfectly curated and absolutely loved making the quilt, it remains my favorite.

I love the scrappy trip quilt I made with jelly rolls from your shop. I did it with my daughter in law helping her learn quilting and sharing 2 1/2 inch strips with her.

I’ve made several quilts over the years with fabrics from FQS and I have many more going on in different stages of the process. I guess to pick some would be the Make A Wish Charity Quilt Alongs I would purchase the whole kit and make it with you all. The other ones are Vintage Kite Quilt which I’m still working on this one and I’m using Lori Holt fabric line Bee Vintage and Bee Cross Stitch White Pebble for background and I’ve also have in the works Jolly Bar Fabrics with Jolly Bar books andI’m making a couple of quilts out of those books.
