We’ve sewn right through our first month of the Farm Girl Vintage 2 Quilt Along! It’s been quite a ride and there is still a way to go! We’re sew excited to see your progress. There are 45 blocks of the Farm Girl Vintage 2 Sampler Quilt and we are 12 in! This much-anticipated sequel to Farm Girl Vintage features 6″ and 12″ quilt blocks, inspired by Lori Holt’s rural roots. She has also designed 13 new projects, including quilts, pillows and a pincushion that use these cute-as-can-bee blocks!
We covered Week 1 last month and now we’re catching up on blocks 3 through 12.
Week 2: Blocks 3 and 4
Quilty staffer Teresa sewed up Barn Cat and Bright Zinnia! If you’re making the Farm Girl Vintage 2 Sampler Quilt, you’ll want to make these two blocks at 12″.
Week 3: Blocks 5 and 6
Teresa sewed Busy Beehive and Cheerful Tulips as 6″ blocks. Sew sweet!
Week 4: Blocks 7 and 8
During Week 4, Teresa sewed up quite the harvest. The Corn and Tomatoes block and Cold Watermelon are absolutely delicious.
Week 5: Blocks 9 and 10
The Cross Stitch block is such a sweet acknowledgment of our other favorite past-time! Teresa also sewed up Curious Crow.
Week 6: Blocks 11 and 12
Daddy’s Tractor and Evening Star blocks were a challenging and fun way to wrap up this month’s blocks.

Without further ado, let’s see some project inspiration for blocks 3-12. These can be saved for the Sampler Quilt or made into a quick and easy pillow or mini quilt – perfect for the busy holiday season and last-minute gifts!

Sew Along Schedule
The Farm Girl Vintage Sew Along starts today and runs through Friday, April 3, 2020. Each month on our blog, we’re sharing Farm Girl Vintage 2 blocks, along with additional settings and projects found in Farm Girl Vintage 2. We’ve invited quilters to make the blocks for the Sampler Quilt or any of the other inventive projects found in the book.
The goal is to make two blocks each week so that you’ll be ready to show off your finished quilt on April 24, 2020. We invite you to join us in sharing your progress with #FarmGirlFridays! Hello guys. Okay, so all the fabric, the book and extra fabrics was bought for me for Christmas. I have my fabrics sorted and titled but I find the book confusing. Do we need each a 6″ and a 12″ block of each block. For instance: Block 1 is the autumn pumpkin block, do I make a 6″ and a 12″ block of this or what. I am finding it hard to read the book. I am fairly new to specialty quilts like this but I have been a quilter for several years. I am dying to make this sampler quilt to hang in my cabin. Please someone HELP!!! The cost of this project has been outrageous so it would be horrible to not use the fabric for this quilt. If I could get some insight, I am gonna work diligently to catch up.

Thank you so much. I have the book. Is there a list anywhere of which fabrics are used for each block? Just would like to have the right fabrics since some of the prints are pretty close.
Regina, I’m in the exact same position as you are. Have you heard back from the question regarding the fabric choices being spot on? Also, my question is when there are two difference pieces of the same fabric how do we know which one to cut from first or does it not matter? Is there enough fabric to fussy cut say on the red and white print words for the pie crust?
I have not got a reply yet on the fabrics. I would think that there probably is enough to fussy cut but not sure. I would worry of running short and I know a bunch of the fabrics are out of stock right now. As far as the same fabric for different pieces I wouldn’t think it would matter which was cut first as long as it is precise.
Hello all, I am also in the same boat. I have the book, the fabric kit and am ready to start….except that I’m not entirely sure where to find a ‘cutting guide’ for how many of each size piece I will need from each FQ. Does this exist? I want to be as mindful as possible not to waste and at the same time be efficient and cut all the pieces needed for the quilt from each fabric piece all at once. Can anyone help with this? thanks so much!
