Deck-ade the Halls: Trim the Tree

Happy Monday, quilters! Are you ready to make the next block in our Deck-ade the Halls quilt? Today we are trimming the tree. There is nothing more “Christmas” than a well dressed tree, and today we are making three! Three times the spirit, I suppose!

The Trim the Tree blocks are perfect for Christmas. We love the sharp diagonals, cascading down to a chunky bottom layer. The trees are full and thick, ready and waiting for gifts! The trunks are accented with our classic red fabric, which adds a pop of contrast. Are you ready to learn how to Trim the Tree?

We use a new, super easy method to construct the Trim the Tree blocks. We layer rectangles to get the cascading effect with very few cut lines. This keeps the blocks looking fluid and smooth. In our instructional video, Kimberly will show you how to construct the Trim the Tree blocks. She takes you step-by-step, showing you how to get full rectangles with few cut lines. And voila, your trees are assembled!

To get started on the quilt, be sure to download the fabric requirements and choose fabric from your stash or pick up one of the Aspen Frost kits. You can find all the patterns for this fun novelty Christmas quilt in our Peppermint Lane Block of the Month Book and instructional video here. Now get sewing!

In addition to the adorable Deck-ade the Halls quilt, these large tree blocks will look adorable as a table runner or festive pillow! Whatever you decide to make, be sure to add the photos to our Flickr group. If you take a look around the group, you will see all of the creative fabric choices and Deck-ade the Halls fun going on. It is a festive crowd, so be sure to join in!
