Baby Makes 3!

Oh baby, do we have a cute quilt for you! It’s Sarah here and my latest magazine quilt just hit newsstands. My Baby Makes 3 quilt appears in the October 2013 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, in pink, blue, and purple! This quilt is perfect for a chic nursery.

I love designing crib quilts! And Bunny Hill Design’s Jubilee fabric was a perfect fit. I wanted to design a relatively simple crib quilt using my favorite quilting unit – the half square triangle.

I know I should not pick favorites … but I love the purple version of the Baby Makes 3 quilts best.

What are your favorite colors for baby quilts?

  1. I love pink for girls and blue for boys. I have made green and yellow quilts because the sex of the baby is unknown.

  2. Reds and blacks and grays are some of the first colors babies eyes really see well, yet I usually don't go for those colors. I like yellows, greens and oranges, since they can be passed down from one gender to another gender.

  3. I like red Yellow and blue – the Primary colors work for both boys and girls. Nice pattern, I need to make a quick Quilt this week.

  4. Orange hands down with teal coming in a close second. You design would work well in any color combination though. I will be on the lookout for that issue.

  5. The purple one is MY favorite, and the blue/sand one is perfect for my new little great-grandson's room. Just the right colors. I will be forced to make both versions!!! Can you say "Smiling"?! :}

  6. I typically make baby quilts in pink or blue if the parents know the sex ahead of time. If they don't know the sex, then I make the baby quilts with primary colors. I prefer primary colors for baby quilts. It's bright and cheerful.
