Ocean Waves Quilt Block Pattern Sewing Tutorial

We’re back with another pattern in our Classic & Vintage series, the Ocean Waves Quilt Block!  In our Classic & Vintage series, we focus on traditional quilt blocks and add a modern twist! The Ocean Waves block is made of many triangles that ultimately create a wave effect. The cool thing is, they’re made using Triangles On A Roll paper, so you have some help along the way and you won’t believe how sharp and accurate your points are!

The Ocean Waves design is available as a FREE, downloadable block pattern and a low-priced quilt pattern. You can use this technique from a simple block all the way to a queen-size quilt. The block finishes at 10 1/2″ x 10 1/2.” Kimberly made hers in Northport Prints by Minick & Simpson for Moda Fabrics.

Our complete Ocean Waves quilt pattern gives instructions for making crib, lap, twin and queen-sized quilts. To make a quilt just like Kimberly’s, we have the Ocean Waves Quilt Kit available!

If you’re ready to sew along with us, download your FREE Ocean Waves block pattern and watch Kimberly’s video tutorial for a step-by-step guide on making your block! Kimberly shows you how to make accurate half-square triangles from Triangles On A Roll paper, making this quilt block a cinch.

We have some wonderful quilty friends who sewed up their own versions of the Ocean Waves Block. Click on each photo to see it in detail.
