Today we’re getting started with the Charming Baby Sew Along for the Charming Baby Quilts Book by Melissa Corry and It’s Sew Emma! The book brings 10 original baby quilts to life, featuring the classic 5″ square charm pack precut. Each design uses one, two or three charm packs, making this an essential book to have on hand for gifts and celebrations.
We will be making two blocks every Wednesday from April 8 to May 13. We have some friends sewing along with us who will be showing off their blocks each week and giving prizes along the way!
Kimberly sewed her Charming Baby Sampler Quilt in Bonnie At Home fabric collection by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics.
We have the full Fabric Requirements HERE for you to use and pick out your fabrics for the Sew Along. You will need the Charming Baby Quilts Book and to help you complete the sampler quilt. Then you can join us each Wednesday here on the blog for the cutting instructions.
We have a great lineup of quilters (including the author, Melissa Corry) sewing along with us! Click on each of the photos to see them up close and see what collections they used as well as tips and tricks they have to make it! Here are some of their blocks:
This Week’s Giveaway

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Wonderful!
Love this. Thank you,for the giveaway and quilt along.
I have the book, charms, and the background, but I wish it wasn’t so secret. I’m trying to follow along as best as one can. I miss the demonstrations, but I will continue.
Please let me know if you have any questions I can answer here. We aren’t able to provide video tutorials with every sew along, but if we can help here on the blog we’re happy to.
I just started mine. It’s a little difficult ti follow along without the demos to jelp us out. O am not sure what to cut for the “modified center star block
I hope you can help me out.
Hi Rhandi, Happy to help out! For the modified center star block, turn to page 4 of the Charming Baby Quilts book and cut the units A, B, C, D. Cut the number of units specified on the cutting instructions provided in this blog post, linked above. You’ll cut from charm packs or prints 16 A, 8 B. You’ll cut from your background fabric 1 D, 1 E.
Color in the lines block. Instructions say to make 8 but it looks like the quilt only uses four. Confused
After you make 8 units, you join each two together to make 4 total.
I just ordered the book but, without the book this is really hard to follow. I also noticed that the cutting instructions in the dark green rectangle are impossible to decipher. Should I just follow the instructions in the book for the baby quilts?
