To join the Summer Memories Quilt Along, gather your supplies and grab your copy of the book so you’re ready to start May 1. For the Summer Memories Quilt Along, we will be sewing two blocks a week, and spend a week on finishing. The nine-week quilt along goes from May 1 – June 26.
The Summer Picnic Quilt is 70″ square when finished and includes five cute, classic basket block designs. If you love a scrappy quilt, this is the time to start organizing your fabrics. You’ll need the book for the pattern, and some optional supplies are listed below. The pattern is written for traditional piecing, but you can use triangle paper for all those little HST’s too.

Hi Lisa! As long as the fabrics in it you want to use are enough for the fabric requirements for this quilt in the book then yes!

What fabric was used for the border?
the optional supplies include flying geese paper. i don’t see that there are any flying geese blocks in this quilt.
Karen, I’m sorry – that was our mistake. There is no need to use the flying geese paper for this Summer Picnic quilt.
Where do I buy the book so I can quilt along with the summer memories?
The book can only be bought at Fat Quarter Shop who are also the publishers. However, they ran out of it a while ago. They are supposed to get a new supply in the first or second week of May. You can sign up to be notified when it is in stock but you will still have to wait for them to ship it to you. After they notify me, if I get an order in on time, I’m hoping I’ll get a copy by May 14 which is still two weeks into the sew-a-long.
