Announcing The Heart of America Quilt Along!

Oh, say, do you see… another fun quilt along! Show your love of all things Red, White, and Blue with The Heart of America four-part quilt along. The beautiful Heart of America Quilt pays homage to the land we love (and as a bonus, it meets the size and design requirements to be a Quilt of Valor)!

The Heart of America Quilt is a beautiful medallion design that finishes at 60.5″ x 70.5″ It’s precut-friendly, too! It starts with a fat eighth bundle and some yardage for the background and accent.

You can find all the supplies to make one like ours in the Heart of America Quilt Kit and Backing Set or listed below.

This quilt is great for confident beginners and you can give triangle paper a try if you haven’t yet! We love triangle paper because we easily get precise half-square triangles everytime!

The Heart of America Quilt is designed with the Old Glory Collection by Lella Boutique for Moda Fabrics. We love how wonderfully patriotic it is with its stars and stripes, blooming florals, polka dots, and classic red, white, and blue hues. (Old Glory precuts are in store now, and we expect the yardage and Heart of America Quilt Kit to be here very soon!)

Mark Your Calendar!

Be sure you save the date for Heart of America! The Heart of America Quilt Along has four parts and runs throughout March. We’ll share our progress on Tuesdays on social media and in Kimberly’s Stitch Squad, a fun and supportive community for quilters.

The schedule follows the pattern! You can find all the instructions for the blocks in the pattern, and comment here on the blog if you have any questions.

The Heart of America Quilt is also the right size and design to be sewn and gifted as a Quilt of Valor. A QOV is a quality, handmade quilt awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. William’s Honor and Cathy’s Quilt are QOV’s we’ve shared in the past! We donate to the Quilts of Valor Foundation each year, and hope you’ll let us know if you use this pattern to make a QOV quilt!

  5. I have tried paper piecing, and my brain just doesn’t work that way. Will the pattern also show regular piecing?

    1. Hi Bobbi!

The pattern absolutely shows traditional or “regular” piecing! The Triangles on a Roll are totally optional!

  6. Wow! I love the quilt and I will be joining the quilt along. I try to make at least one QOV each year. Looking forward to making this quilt.

  7. I have been collecting fabrics and ideas for a very special Quilt of Valor and this pattern has a lot of appeal. Thank you for sharing this. I look forward to sewing along with you

  8. Exciting. I’m a QOV recipient and a longarmer for QOV. Hope the pattern comes available soon so we know what fabrics to order. It really is a beautiful quilt.

  9. Can’t wait to get the pattern and do the sew along. My sewing group makes quilts for Quilts of Valor.

    1. Hi Donna!

We can’t wait to start sewing along with you! We’re so glad you’re excited! You can get the pattern now. it’s linked above. πŸ™‚

  10. I have the fat quarter bundle. Will that work? What and how much background fabric would I need to go with the fat quarter bundle? Thanks

    1. Hi Stacy! We recommend a fat eighth bundle so that should be plenty of fabric for prints! The pattern with the fabric requirements should be online sometime this week with what else you’ll need for background, borders, accents, etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

  11. Love this quilt! I just missed out on the kit and plan to get a fat eighth bundle. However, I don’t see the sku numbers listed for the background and accent fabrics. Do you plan to carry them?
