The sixth pattern release is the Precious Block! This block features a heart within a heart, and like the others, you’ll need to make five of these for the quilt. We’re sewing with the Beautiful Day collection by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. If you’re just joining in, you can find all the patterns on the announcement post.

Our Heartfelt Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.

We are amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. Kids like Anais and Keysean have been granted Wishes that buoy their spirits and create lasting memories. The way the fundraiser works is that we offer the Heartfelt patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. Or feel free to make a larger, one-time donation of $50. No amount is too small and every bit counts. From February to September, we will publish a new pattern on the Heartfelt Announcement blog on the first Friday of each month.

Heartfelt Quilting Spotlight

We have a great lineup of quilters, quilting along with us (like you if you’re reading this!). We asked them a few questions and received some heartfelt answers!

Chelsi Stratton

Chelsi is a Moda Fabrics designer, a quilter, a pattern designer, and the co-host of the A Quilting Life podcast with her mother and creative partner, Sherri McConnell. Chelsi is sewing her quilt with Seashore DriveSincerely Yours, and other scraps from Sherri & Chelsi’s collections for Moda Fabrics.

We asked her, What quilt of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?

“My most heartfelt project/quilt is my Hearts at Home! It is dear to my heart and really helped me fall even more in love with quilting. Seeing so many other quilters fall in love with that pattern has warmed my heart and continues to do so! It brought so many people together and is so special to me!”

Visit Chelsi on her blog to learn more about her, and follow her on Instagram @chelsistratton to find out more!

Sherri McConnell

Sherri is a Moda Fabrics designer, author, pattern designer, creative lifestyle blogger, and the co-host of the A Quilting Life podcast with her daughter, Chelsi Stratton. Sherri is sewing her quilt with Emma by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics which is due out in September!

Sherri's heartfelt release 6

We asked her, What quilt of yours has been the most “heartfelt” project that is closest to your heart? Why?

“I think that sewing with our Emma collection has been one of the most “heartfelt” experiences I’ve been able to have with quilting. The collection is named after my great-great-grandmother who taught my grandmother to applique, and it’s been a really wonderful experience for me to have been able to work on the fabrics and quilts inspired by her.”

Visit Sherri on her blog to learn more about her, and follow her on Instagram @aquiltinglife to find out more!

Thanks to all of your support and generous donations we have been able to reach almost 90% of our fundraiser goal! With your help, we can reach our goal of $100,000 in donations towards Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas! When you donate today, you’ll get us closer to our goal of granting ten wishes, and closer to releasing a new finishing pattern.

Fat Quarter Shop is happy to be partnering with Moda Fabrics to match up to $30,000 in donations for this worthy cause.

  3. Hi there! This post couldn’t be written much better! Looking through this post reminds me of my previous roommate! He always kept preaching about this. I most certainly will send this post to him. Pretty sure he’ll have a great read. I appreciate you for sharing!

  4. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The issue is something which not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I stumbled across this during my search for something concerning this.
