2021 Serendipity Quilt Along – Release 6

Welcome back to the Fat Quarter Shop 2021 Charity Quilt Along, Serendipity! Today we’re sharing the Happenstance Row. The Happenstance Row is a string of Flying Geese blocks all in a row. Let’s gather our supplies and get started!

For this row you have the option to use a traditional piecing method for making Flying Geese or to use the 1.5” x 3” Flying Geese Foundation Paper. Our pattern gives instructions for both. We’re sewing with the Spring Brook fabric collection designed by Corey Yoder for Moda Fabrics. If you’re sewing with something different, here are the fabric requirements to make this year’s charity quilt.

Our Serendipity Quilt and Cross Stitch Chart benefit Make-a-Wish Central & South Texas.

Fat Quarter Shop is happy to be partnering with Moda Fabrics to match up to $30,000 in donations for this worthy cause.

We continue to be amazed by the generosity of this sewing community and inspired by the stories of the children who have been granted life-changing Wishes. How does this fundraiser work? We offer the Serendipity patterns as FREE downloads during the event for a suggested donation of $5 each to our Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas campaign. Or feel free to make a larger, one-time donation of $50. No amount is too small and every bit counts.

Serendipity Quilt Along

We have a great lineup of quilters quilting along with us! Our quilters used a mix of the quilt kit and their own fabrics to make their blocks. Click on each of the photos to see them up close and see the fabrics they’re sewing with! Here are some of their blocks:

Bonus Finishing Patterns for Serendipity

For each milestone goal we hit with our fundraiser, we have released extra finishing patterns you can use with the blocks.  Thanks to your generous donations, we’ve already surpassed our goal amount of $70,000! This will allow us to grant Wishes to 10 children!
