Quilt Along Pattern & Schedule
We’re sewing the 6″ Vintage Kite Quilt Block on repeat for a classic quilt design using the pattern below! Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, we will sew these scrappy blocks into a beautiful quilt.
To join the quilt along is simple. Just post a picture of your blocks and use the hashtag #VintageKiteQAL and you’re in! Check the hashtag to find more quilters participating and comment on their pictures to start making new friends.
For the duration of the Vintage Kite Quilt Along, we will sew one row each week, leaving one week to assemble all the rows to create the center and one week for borders and finishing.
This foundation paper pieced pattern includes a guide with various quilt sizes that you can use to customize the size of your Vintage Kite Quilt. Make your quilt your own by choosing a layout that fits what you have time for!

Your link to the pattern doesn’t work. Very dissapointing
Hi. You have to click on the quilts picture do not click on the red or pink bar that you would think that you have to click on. Click above it on picture of the quilt
Hi Marcie, I apologize it’s been fixed and should take you right to the pattern now!
Thank you for letting us know!
I am excited to sewing along with the vintage Kites. I love the Kite foundation paper.
I made the #vintagekitefoundationpaper and Lori’s Calico fabric from the January #sewsamplerbox and had fun doing it. I made a sample block first. FQS has the very best customer service and fabric kits.
This seems like an awful lot of background fabric and even too many 10″ squares for 6 (6.5″) blocks. Why would you need more background than backing with those big borders?
Are there weekly photos of the fabric placement Kimberly is using? Is there a specific placement for fabric or is it to be totally random…something I struggle with (since I don’t have a “friend” to color place my fabrics for me…that’s what I use Kimberly for). Thanks!!!
thank you for the article
