Summer Moon Quilt Along – Finishing

We are finally finishing up our beautiful Summer Moon Quilt from the Summer Moon Block of the Month Book after a fun 10 months! Quilters from every corner of the world sewed along with this whimsical sampler quilt designed by Carrie Nelson. Now that we’re wrapping up our quilting, let’s check on those final blocks and our finishing pattern!

Each month since May, Carrie Nelson has been giving tips for making the blocks in these short videos. We released three new videos each month on our YouTube channel. Bookmark the Summer Moon video playlist and subscribe to our channel so you can watch them all.

Month 9 – Block Frames and Grading Seams

There are four different framing options for the small blocks in the quilt. Framing these blocks allows you to finish them at the same size as the other blocks, but still allow them to float. Before you sew all your blocks together, you may want to grade seams on the blocks to reduce bulk. Summer Moon Designer Carrie Nelson filmed a video tutorial to show you how.

Once your blocks are ready to go, it’s time to put it all together. Carrie has some useful tips for putting it all together.
