Stitch and Sew Star of Wonder with Us!

Early season’s greetings! The time has come to embark on a festive adventure with our Star of Wonder Mystery Quilt and Stitch Along. Over the next five weeks, we will unwrap a new part of this magical project each Tuesday, leading up to a splendid holiday finish. Get ready to deck the halls with your own handmade creations!

From July 2-30, we will release new sections of the Star of Wonder quilt and cross stitch patterns every Tuesday FREE on the Star of Wonder supplies page. Kimberly will guide you in quilt tutorials on our Fat Quarter Shop YouTube Channel, ensuring even beginners can join in on the fun.

Star of Wonder Quilt

The Star of Wonder Quilt is perfect for adding a touch of holiday magic to your home. It’s a beautiful medallion quilt and finishes as a 48.5″ square. We’re stitching ours with Once Upon a Christmas collection by Sweetfire Road for Moda Fabrics, ensuring a festively finished quilt.

To see all the supplies for this sew along head over to the Star of Wonder supplies page.

To sew up this quilt in your favorite seasonal fabrics, download the fabric requirements.

Star of Wonder Cross Stitch

Alongside the quilt, we have a charming cross stitch pattern that mirrors the holiday theme. This project is perfect for all stitchers looking to add a handmade touch to their holiday décor. The cross stitch pattern is also divided into weekly segments, so you can see the pattern grow week by week

The Star of Wonder Cross Stitch measures 84w x 84h, finishing as a 6” square when stitched on 14 count Aida! If you’re working with a different cloth, be sure to use our free Cross Stitch Calculator to find your desired size.

We always leave the floss and cloth up to you, but if you want to match us, we stitched ours with the Star of Wonder Classic Colorworks Thread Pack on White Chocolate 14 Count Aida by Wichelt. Some other seasonal supplies we’d recommend include the Star of Wonder Enamel Needle Minder, Festively Gift Wrapped Enamel Needle MinderEnchanted Enamel Charm, and the Rose Mad for Plaid Project bag.

  1. I am so looking forward to doing this SAL, but life is getting in the way right now. I will put this on the back burner & get to it when I can! Thanking you for always providing so much free content. Happy quilting!

  2. I usually don’t do Mystery-A-Longs, but this was too sweet to pass up! I’m using Joyful, Joyful by Stacy Iest Hsu with a dab of Favorite Things by Sherri & Chelsi and a green plaid from Pansy’s Posies by Robin Pickens for texture.

I’m loving it already. The center block is delightful, and I’m so looking forward to the next clue!

  3. I love this – so pretty! I ordered the materials for the cross stitch. And I am thinking of making the quilt – I just need confidence

  4. I want to be part of the Star of Wonder quilt along. I think it will be beautiful. Already love the first block and that it is fat quarter friendly.

  5. Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy another Fat Quarter shop sew along! I would love to be joining in, will be using Christmas fabrics from my stash. Excited to get started Love the first block which I downloaded and will be putting together this weekend. I have a feeling it will be a fun and beautiful project to show off for the holidays!

  6. Did you know there’s an error above? I believe it should say week 2 for July 9. You have two week 3’s.

  7. I cannot express how happy I am that you now do an overall stitch pattern on your releases. I use my iPad for my stitching and the overlap pages were a nightmare. I so enjoy doing these mystery releases each year! My sister and I do them together and I always finish my quilts before her and she always finishes the cross stitch before me. We are a bit competitive. lol. 😂
