We’re so excited the time has come to kick off the Sew Scrappy Spools Quilt Along. This scrap-friendly quilt along highlighting 14 different blocks starts today. We hope you’re ready to join us and start sewing! Keep reading to find the sew along schedule and all the details.

About the Sew Scrappy Spools Quilt

Join us as we make our favorite scrappy fabrics into splendid little spools for the Sew Scrappy Spools Quilt Along. The Sew Scrappy Spools Quilt is a Full-size quilt, finishing at 72.5″ x 90.5″, and by sewing a few blocks each month, you’ll have it completed by the end of 2023. Quilt Along Supplies

For this year-long quilt along the most important item to join in is the Sew Scrappy Spools Downloadable PDF Quilt Pattern (also available as a paper pattern).

This scrappy quilt is ideal to use your leftover fabrics. We don’t have a quilt kit for it, and recommend starting with your scraps or a fat quarter bundle. Lori Holt’s Scrappy Happy Starter Fat Quarter Bundle and Lori Holt’s Scrappy Backgrounds Fat Quarter Bundle. If you want to match Kimberly’s quilt, pick up a Calico Fat Quarter Bundle by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs. She’s also using Calico Cottage Days for background, Bee Cross Stitch White Cottage for borders and sashing, Bee Plaids Denim for backing, and Calico Tea Dye for the spool ends.

Sew Scrappy Spools Quilt Along Schedule

The goal of the quilt along is to make several blocks each month, going in order of the pattern. Add the spooly ends as you go, so that you’ll have 63 “scrappy spools” ready to put together in December. Right-click the image to save and download the schedule.

During the quilt along, we won’t be providing any tutorials (the full instructions are all in the pattern), but Kimberly will be sharing her progress on social media with the hashtag #SewScrappySpoolsQAL.
