April sewed up her Hope block from her new upcoming collection Love Lily for Moda Fabrics! She used two prints from her line and especially loves the diamond print and the blues! She loved making these tiny blocks, and she suggested that we starch our fabrics first, and use a sharp rotary blade when cutting. Then, she suggested that we use a short stitch length to sew to avoid the pieces slipping against each other, and finally, TRIM! Even though it seems minimal, in these little bitty blocks those 1/32″ and 1/16″ differences really add up. So after each step, April squared up to the stated measurement. So far, her blocks have ended up about 1/16″ larger than the 3.5″ which is perfect for trimming right to size.
