This week’s designer, Joanna Figueroa is the creative force behind Fig Tree & Co. for Moda Fabrics. Joanna designed Courage! This block is a variation of the classic Cat’s Cradle Block, so if you’ve never made one here’s your chance to try it out! Joanna sewed up her Courage blocks from her collection Figs & Shirtings by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics. Joanna has a couple sewing tips for us! She wanted to remind us to trim the components down to size since we are cutting them a tiny bit too big on purpose, to press toward the color on individual units, and to press open on the multi-piece units in order to have our blocks lay flat.

i am making the 3 and 9 sizes. the three inch size is being put on a square baby blanket that hangs behind me in my room. this way i can see the quilt coming together. when it is done it will go on my night stand.
I have really enjoyed this sew along. My cousin and I are doing it in different fabrics and it’s been fun to compare the different looks we are each getting. We are both doing the 9″ blocks.
After watching Kimberly piece together the 3″ version of this today I think I am going to attempt it!
