It’s time for our last block release for the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along! In October, we started sewing this free sampler quilt, and now, if you’ve been sewing along, you have quite the assortment of blocks completed. In the next two weeks, we’ll be putting them all together to make a beautiful quilt! This week we’re excited to share Block #24, designed by Lisa Bongean!
This week’s block designer is Lisa Bongean (@lisabongean) of Primitive Gatherings! The Energize block is an intermediate level and uses corner triangles to create beautiful star points. Lisa sewed a 6″ block and shared, “I used Garden Gatherings for the entire quilt. The background is Garden Gathering Shirtings Collection.”
She also shared, “The blocks that drive me crazy are blocks that contain stitch and flip corners. I generally do not like making blocks that waste fabric, but sometimes I make the sacrifice because the block result is cool. My block, “Energize,” has three sections to make and goes easily together in nine patch style.”
We’ve sewn the Energize block with different collections in all three size options. The 3″ block is sewn with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics, the 6″ block in Dwell by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, and the 9″ block using Cinnamon & Cream by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.
