We’re celebrating our quilting community with a free block of the week quilt along called the Sewcialites 2 Quilt Along. This week we’re excited to share Block #19, designed by Joanna Figueroa!
This week’s designer is Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co. (@figtreeandco), who sewed the 6″ version of her Invigorate block. This intermediate block is an elegant way to highlight your fabrics! When asked about what she was sewing with, Joanna said, “I sewed with my favorite thing to do… a scrappy Fig Tree mix,” including selections from her Fruit Cocktail, Fresh Fig Favorites, and Cinnamon & Cream collections for Moda Fabrics.
She also shared about her block design, saying, “I am crazy about my block because no matter what size I make it, or what fabrics I use for the pieces, it showcases the fabric beautifully. The pieces are not so big that they are boring and not so little that you can’t really see what the fabric is. I think that is why this is one of those blocks that I come back to over and over.”
To celebrate Joanna’s new Fruit Salad Quilt Book that’s just landed at Fat Quarter Shop, we’re participating in the Fig Tree & Co. sew along starting in April! Kimberly will be sewing the Fruit Medley Runner which is 15.5″ x 80.5″ finished and features all of the pretty fruits from Fruit Salad. You can find all the details for this sew along on yesterday’s Fruit Medley blog announcement.
We’ve sewn the Invigorate block with different collections in all three size options. The 3″ block is sewn with Nutmeg by BasicGrey for Moda Fabrics, the 6″ block in Dwell by Camille Roskelley for Moda Fabrics, and the 9″ block using Cinnamon & Cream by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda Fabrics.

Hello! I just tried downloading Kimberl’y finishing pattern and the Oops something went wrong comes up. Can someone take a look at systems and see why this pattern cannot be downloaded yet? Thank you!
