Finishing Kits are Back!

You asked, and we listened! For 2023 we’re bringing back finishing kits! Find the extras you need to complete the quilt tops and projects at Fat Quarter Shop.

Important Reminder

As mentioned on December 22, 2022, the cost of making the Sew Sampler Box keeps rising, so we must update our price.⁠ Beginning with the January 2023 shipment, the box price will increase to $29.95 plus shipping and tax each month.⁠

This is the first time the price has increased since the box started almost 7 years ago. During that time, box-related costs have increased numerous times, and we’ve maintained our original price. This price increase helps us ensure you continue to receive a high-quality product and experience each month.⁠

    1. This is my first time subscribing to the Fat Quarter Shop Sew Sampler Box. I am so excited and can’t wait to get the sampler box. I am a quilter and started sewing 7 years ago. My friend Rick showed me about sewing and quilting and I ran with the ball. Love it.

    1. A finishing kit includes the background fabric and binding fabric. Usually any fabric needed to complete the quilt top.

    2. Hi Betty!

      Mary left a great answer. Finishing kits provide what you need to finish your quilt top! Some include binding as well. The details are usually provided on the specific kits on our shop.

  16. I believe the fabric is Lori Holt’s Calico fabric collection. Love it, and I have purchased some pre-cuts and bundles already along with matching pink floral for backing. Bringing back finishing kits? I did not see this yet in print, but I saw in comments above. If so, this is “Super Fantastic!” Thank you for bring back the finishing kits!

  24. Hope this is better than the Dec box. The one in Dec was first one I was disappointed in. Gave almost all of it away. Liked the Pin Caddy and quilt pattern. Wasn’t feeling the butterflies with the fish. My friend will probably make something beautiful and I’ll be kicking myself. LOL

  25. I Would like to see jelly rolls and fat quarters instead of a lot of notions. How about some sewing machine needles for quilting. I think many of us would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much.

    Hubby and I would drive 30 miles to eat at IHOP. We would go for breakfast and then just take a drive. made a wonderful way to see the changes.

  28. Quilting needles for hand and/or sewing machine would be great. Just can’t wait each month for box to arrive.

  29. I’m glad to hear you’re bringing back the finishing kits. Since 1) I had to make choices of buying up to 3/8 more or 1/8 less since you only make half yard cuts and almost all your patterns called for 5/8. Then I’m really frustrated with the December box where the fabrics to complete the quilt aren’t even available (and you had the nerve to put in a coupon for 30% off the fabrics.

  30. Thanks for bringing back finishing kits. It would be great to be able to subscribe to these as well as the sew sampler kit. You then know you will get the finishing kit each month to go with kit. It also saves ordering months ahead and not knowing if you have already ordered or not.

  31. Keep up the good work with the SSB! I may not have necessarily loved the fabric print in the Dec. Box but it was still alright. So all in all it was a pretty good box. Can’t always please everyone with everything but you guys do a darn good job trying 👍

  32. Love the kits. Can’t wait to see January, and order my finishing kit. Really have enjoyed some of the Sew Sampler products that I know I’d never have ordered on my own–and great value even with adjusting the cost of the boxes.
