Which precuts can you use with these templates?
The Little Bubble and Little Birdie templates can be used with Layer Cakes, Charm Packs, and Jolly Bars. The Big Bubble and Big Birdie templates are used with Layer Cakes. Download the FREE Quilt As You Go Templates Size Guide PDF to figure out how many precuts and batting squares you will need for different quilt sizes!
What size batting squares do you need?
For the Big Bubble & Birdie templates, use 14″ batting squares, and for the Little Bubble & Birdie templates, use 10″ batting squares. For less prep time, pick up the precut 12 Pack of 14″ 80/20 Silky Blend Happy Cloud Quilt Batting or the precut 12 Pack of 10″ 80/20 Silky Blend Happy Cloud Quilt Batting. This is also a great use for batting scraps from your stash!
What other notions do you need?
The notions we recommend to get started are a Sewline Blue Fabric Water Soluble Glue Pen, a Clover Blue Water Soluble Marker, and a pair of Fiskars 10.5″ Easy Action Pinking Shears. See below for possible alternatives!

What blocks do they make?
The Birdie Quilt As You Go Templates will give you the look of Hummingbird, Arkansas Star, Periwinkle, and Four-Point Star quilt blocks. The Bubble Quilt As You Go Templates will give you the look of Cathedral Window and Orange Peel quilt blocks.
Can you use a pinking rotary cutter blade?
Yes, you can! Rotary blades are easier to use on straight lines than on curves, but with a steady hand and the help of the sturdy template edge, they are a great option for both the Birdie and Bubble templates.
Can you use fusible fleece instead of glue?
You sure can! Just be aware that when you use heat or steam to fuse the fleece, heat and water-erasable pen markings might disappear. Other great options are basting spray or pins.
How does it wash? Does it look like a rag quilt?
Quilt As You Go quilts wash really well! After a few washes, the cozy frayed edges that you love on a rag quilt will start to show up, but due to a narrower seam allowance, they won’t be as thick.
Isn’t there a lot of fabric waste from trimming?
We recommend a fabric cut size that allows everyone to be successful! You can certainly go with a smaller fabric square if you are comfortable cutting closer to the edge of the template shape.
Can you zig-zag instead of using pinking shears?
Finishing the edges with a zig-zag stitch instead of pinking shears is totally an option! Doing this does add another step to the process, but it will reduce fraying if you are looking for a sleeker finish.
