Are you ready to rumble? Edyta Sitar’s new pillows from Pillow Talk: 25 Lovely Pillows for Your Home Sweet Home, sparked the idea for a fun contest and we’re kicking it off with our first pair of contenders – Kimberly Jolly and Edyta Sitar!
Edyta Sitar worked with Kimberly Jolly and It’s Sew Emma to bring the Pillow Talk book to life!
Starting today, we’ll have ten rounds of the Pillow Talk Pillow Fight here on the blog and on Instagram! Each week, two contenders will go head-to-head with their creations based on the patterns in the Pillow Talk book. This competition among friends will be accompanied by weekly voting, plus a monthly roundup with the chance for prizes and glory for that month’s winner and one lucky voter. At the end, the top two will go up for a final vote. Who will be the Pillow King or Queen? You get to decide!
The participating designers and quilters can sew pillows, mini quilts or other projects inspired by the book. With 25 amazing designs, plus a full alphabet, the possibilities are endless! Check out our announcement post to see all the talented participants!
Now on to Round 1…. Let’s see what they made!
Edyta Sitar’s Dot Dot Dot
A circle gets a square on this appliqued beauty. We love the rainbow gradient, and how each print was hand-selected for maximum impact. The Dot Dot Dot Pillow Kit takes the work out with 36 pre-cut applique shapes backed with fusible webbing.
Kimberly Jolly’s One Step at a Time
The One Step at a Time pillow is one of Kimberly’s favorite designs from the book. She sewed hers with the Delfina collection by Laundry Basket Quilts, with a background from the Laundry Basket Favorites line of basics. We love that they have the look of linen and the rainbow hues. To sew this pillow in a flash, check out the One Step at a Time Pillow Kit, which includes 28 laser cut fabric shapes for the 18″ x 18″ pillow top.
Voting for Your Favorites
Each Thursday we’ll invite you to vote for your favorite pillow project here on the blog. Find us on social with #PillowTalkPillowFight.
Then, we’ll put the winners from Rounds 1-4 to a vote here on the blog on Thursday, February 6, and the winners from Rounds 5-8 will be put to a vote on Thursday, February 27. Glory goes to the winners and we’ll have special prizes for those of you voting, too!
And so the voting begins! Please only vote one time. We’ll reveal the results next week.
Pillow Talk Fabric Kits
We offer fabric kits for many of the pillows in the Pillow Talk Book. Each pillow fabric kit includes the Laundry Basket Favorites fabric for the 18″ x 18″ pillow top and binding. You will just need to order the Pillow Talk Book and 1/2 yard separately for backing.
We’ll see you back here next week to see creations by Jen Van Orman of Heritage Threads and Elise Baek of Elise and Emelie! In the meantime, if you sew up some Pillow Talk pillows, be sure to share your projects using #PillowTalkBook and tag us (@fatquartershop), @itssewemma and @laundrybasketquilts so we can see and share your work!
Happy Quilting!

That was hard. I really loved both pillows but the rainbow dots won
I too like both of them bit the dot dot pillow is my winner this week.
Such a dilemma…I agree! Kimberlys is soft and soothing and Edyta’s is bright and colorful 🧵💁♀️❣️
I loved the rainbow dots they made me so happy!!!
Oh Gosh, are you kidding?????
I can not decide. I love both of these.
This is just terrible. 😬
I love the circles because I have four grand girls, and I know they would love the bright happy colors and dots are so fun
I love the Steps pillow. I love the colors used and it is a very classy looking pillow that would look wonderful in my friend Karen’s arms
Is there a special place we must vote? at the hashtag site? Instagram? Facebook? or just here
You can put me down for the STEPS cushion cover. Super nice.
This is going to be fun! I can’t wait to see all the pretties!
Love me a good pillow fight. These were both perfect but the dots won me over on round one. Looking forward to each week and soon making some for my home.
How fun! Both pillows are winners!
This is like choosing between my favorite ice cream flavor (vanilla) or Sara Lee French style cheesecake! I love and want both!! Though they’re both absolutely beautiful, the soothing blue strips won me over.
It was easily the dots for me. x
Veeeeeryyyy hard to make a decision since both are great but it’ll finally be one more vote for Edyta’s Dot Dot Dot!
Congratulations to both of you though!
Dot dot dot wins for me.
