Night Sky Quilt Along with Jana Machado

Hi everyone! As a big fan of Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms, we were thrilled when Jana of Jana Machado asked us to join her Night Sky Quilt Along featuring Camille’s new Night Sky Pattern.

This pattern is a great way to use scraps for your stash, and it’s fat quarter friendly as well. To get you inspired, here are some of Jana’s blocks for the quilt along. She’s using the Miss Kate collection by Bonnie & Camille and the Cherie collection by Frances Newcombe for her blocks.

One of our quilty staff, Daniar, decided to create her blocks from her Cotton + Steel stash, mixing the Spring and Fall collections!

Did you know that the Night Sky pattern is also our November Pattern of the Month? That means it’s 20% OFF all month long! So pick up your pattern at our shop today and join in on the fun!
But wait… there’s more! We are giving away a Miss Kate fat quarter bundle by Bonnie & Camille to one lucky winner! To enter, all you need to do is comment on this blog post and let us know what fabric collection you would make with the Night Sky pattern. The winner will be contacted via email and randomly selected on December 5th, 2014. Good luck and happy quilting!

And the Winner is… Andrea

  1. I love this pattern and I'm quilting along with Jana! I've used a Hubble space picture as inspiration and making my Night Sky with aquas, oranges, pinks, purples, whites, greys and blacks. But I think this pattern will look great no matter which fabrics you choose.

  2. What a great pattern – I love star in a star designs :0) I'd want to make it with Rue Indienne – I just love that line!

  3. I would definitely use a Bonnie and Camille collection – probably Daysail or (if I was lucky enough to win it) Miss Kate! Love Camille's patterns!

  4. I have some Happy-Go-Lucky and Scrumptious that I would probably use for this pattern. Anything by Bonnie and Camille is a favorite of mine! Thanks for the chance.

  5. I would use either the Miss Kate or maybe the Happy-go-lucky line with Bonnie & Camille fabrics! I would love a Miss Kate bundle! Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. This is a gorgeous pattern. I wanted to make a star quilt in December. I will use yellow as primary color going with blueish for the background and violet as third main color.

  7. I would love to make a true scrap quilt, but the scraps would be all my leftovers from other Bonnie & Camille fabric projects. I'd love to have some Miss Kate to throw in the mix 🙂

  8. I have been hoarding the Hello Luscious collection for too long and looking for the perfect pattern for it. When I first saw this pattern I knew it was the one! It is a pattern that I will use for many different fabric lines. I can't wait to get started!

  9. Have been wanting to make this quilt! Thank you for the sale! Would love to make it with Miss Kate, but if not will use my stash✂️

  10. I don't think I've seen a star quilt pattern that I didn't like, but this one is special. I would love to make this pattern out of Miss Kate with some Bella Solids thrown in.

  11. I love making star blocks, so I am so excited to make this quilt! It would be lovely in my many Bonnie and Camille fabrics that I have collected over a few years and have leftover yardage from!
I was also thinking it would be beautiful in the new Paradiso fabric!

  12. Although I love Daysail, this pattern screams French General to me. I am sure that this pattern would look great in most any fabric line. Thanks for the chance.

  13. I would probably make Night SKy from Daysail like Camille did. I love that line and it is a little more suitable for boys (I have 5!) Thanks for the chance to win some Miss Kate!!

  14. Miss Kate really is the perfect choice, but I can imagine it being lovely in Color Theory as well!

  15. It would be hard to resist more Bonnie and Camille fabric, but as I am already working on a project in that range, perhaps one of the blogger bundles – like Rita Hodge's – or Figures by Zen Chic.

  16. I think it would be fun to use Threads Of Time By Julie Hendricksen For Windham Fabrics to make Night Sky.
    Thanks

  17. I would use a mix of Bonnie and Camille lines for this quilt. I like mixing it up. Miss Kate would be the primary line I'd use if I was lucky enough to win 🙂

  18. I think I would use '25th Pine' Fabric Collection. I keep drooling over it and I think it would look awesome with this pattern – Christmas Night Sky!

  19. I'd love to do this quilt in an all-blue palette–maybe with Cotton and Steel's "Splash" bundle? Or maybe with solids like Kona's "True Blue" bundle.

  20. The Miss Kate is so beautiful, I would use that. Thanks for the chance to win. I've also shared your giveaway on my Giveaway List for just sewers & quilters at WowILikeThat.com. Thanks again.

  21. I have started the sewalong with Happy Go Lucky but am worried that there are are going to be too many pale fabrics. I think that something bright like Mimosa would be eye catching.

  22. Love all of Bonnie and Camilles designs! I would use Miss Kate or anyone would be darling! What a fun project to get through the long cold winter

  23. I love stars and Love Miss Kate fabrics! I think I would be tempted to make this with red, white and blue fabrics, but the new Threads of Time Collection would be beautiful!

  24. Oh I adore all Bonnie and Camille collections and patterns. I think Miss Kate would be the one I would choose to make the Night Sky pattern, unless I could get my hands on some fabric from their upcoming collection, Day Sail!

  25. I would love to recreate this in a similar colour way to the Bonnie and Camille jumpin puddles quilt that uses April Showers in the greens and blues

  26. I love all the Bonnie and Camille fabrics and I'm sure I could mix the lines up a little and the Night Sky would look great! But Miss Kate looks pretty good to me!

  27. I love the paterm. Bonnie and Camille are such a great team. There are sew many fabric choices. I think that I would like Aloha by Figtree. Thanks see much for the chance to win…

  28. I am a huge Bonnie and Camille fan. I have all of their fabric, so it would have to be Miss Kate. Cant wait until Daysail is available

  29. Love the Night Sky pattern and the Miss Kate fabrics would be so delightful to use in making the quilt. "Cherie" with the bicycles is also a good choice. Me…I'd use Holiday Frost to make a seasonal quilt. Thanks for the chance to win some fabrics, FQS!

  30. I love seeing the various Night Sky quilts on the internet. If I won the Miss Kate bundles that is what I would use to make the pattern. If I don't win the bundle, I would be using repro fabrics.

  31. Miss Kate of course! It's perfection. I am a huge Bonnie and Camille fan. They can do no wrong when designing fabric. And Camille/Thimble Blossoms is my favorite quilt designer.

  32. Ever since seeing the pattern, I've wanted to do this in brights solids with a non-white neutral for the white, so I think I'd go for the Patchwork City Summer palette of Kona with Kona Slate for the neutrak.

  33. I love miss Kate but I LOVE how Cherie looks with it! I love the cotton and steel star too shoot I can't decide! Probably Cherie because I was blown away by it just now 🙂

  34. Super cute. I am kind of having a mini love obsession with Art gallery's "littlest" right now. I think fussy cutting that and solids would be really show case Thimble Blossoms pattern 🙂

  36. That's a tough question! But I think I would most like to see Night Sky in a patriotic color scheme. (Fireworks and stars!) I would use Minick & Simpson's Lexington with Minick & Simpson's Crazy for Red. Then there's always Miss Kate…but I think ANYTHING would be amazing in Miss Kate!

  66. I really like the fabric you show here. I also think it would be nice in the Bonnie and Camille designer's select of the Miss Kate Collection. I also think it would be really nice in Lori Holt's fabric that she did with her daughter, but I can't remember the name and don't even know if it is still available.

  67. Don't you think this quilt would make up nicely in Mistletoe Lane, the fabric that Kimberly is using in her Lori Holt Christmas sampler?
