Happy National Sewing Machine Day!

Hello, and Happy National Sewing Machine Day!

For this special day, I want to challenge you to teach someone in your life to make a quilt. Whether it’s a friend, neighbor, or relative. You can pass on your love of quilting to someone in your life!

I never knew how much a sewing machine would change my life when I got mine 30 years ago. To celebrate this special holiday, Fat Quarter Shop is giving away an EverSewn Sparrow QE Sewing Machine and a bundle of quilting supplies to get you started.

This prize package is worth $930.

Click the link below to enter, and good luck!

Update June 27: Congratulations to Cynthia Shenk! Your name was selected by the giveaway software as our winner! Please check your email to claim your prize. Feel free to call Fat Quarter Shop or email service@fatquartershop.com for additional information.

Plus, I’m sharing a free tutorial to make a sewing machine mat with pockets. It’s sew cute, and it’s just the thing to dress up your sewing table or to try out as a weekend sewing project.

  1. A great day! The sewing machine changed the lives of so many women it deserves a whole week of recognition. Hurray for the sewing machine.

  2. WOW! This would be a nice sewing machine and quilting supplies to win! Good Luck everyone! Thank you, Kimberly and Fat Quarter Shop!

  3. I have been teaching my 8 year old granddaughter to sew. She’s doing amazing. I’d love to win this for her ❤️.

  4. Shared this multiple ways! I’m passing along the love of fabric and color (Pat, Pat the stash) to our seven year old granddaughter…. She’s all fired up and having a blast!!

  5. I never knew there was a National Sewing Machine Day. This could be the day I go buy a new one. Mine locked up yesterday – with a quilt block in it. I mean, it is really, really, locked up – not budging. Ugh!!!

  6. In the last 20-25 years I have held several classes at my church to teach sewing. A lot of the ladies are actively sewing at this time. One lady who passed away had recepients of her many quilts to bring them to her service. It was very touching.
As I was explaining in my first pre-class that we would purchase fabric, cut it into pieces and sew them together. As this was a disappearing 4 Patch I explained that we would cut the sewn 4 patches and then sew them back together. She looked at me and said “I’m out”.

  7. Thank you for the fun giveaway. I have taught several friends how to quilt and now my best friend is going to start taking quilting lessons on my Long Arm machine. I’m so excited to teach her. You are the best Kimberly.

  8. My 4 year old granddaughter is showing interest already. She likes to get the ruler and mark lines then put in pins and the sew on the lines with me helping of course. I might get someone to like seat with me yet. So excited!🥰

  9. I wish I had seen the videos of the Ultimate Quilt Series before I jumped in the deep end. It would’ve made learning so much easier 🙂 Thank you for all your tutorials.

  10. My 5 year old granddaughter is showing so much interest in sewing. I am loving teaching her the basics and looking forward to sharing my love of quilting with her as she grows.
