It’s Sew Emma Spotlight: Setting Sail

Good morning!

We have exciting news from the It’s Sew Emma front! Imagine our exhilaration at flipping through the latest issue of Simple Quilts and Sewing, from the editors of QUILT, and seeing… our first magazine-published pattern!!!

The design is by Jocelyn, and the sample was pieced by Kimberly and quilted by Maggi Honeyman. The result is pure summer AWESOMENESS.

We love the Setting Sail quilt! It’s fun, unique, novelty and definitely will appeal to batik-lovers. These Batavian Batiks were the perfect palette for a nautical adventure. Bright oranges and a range of blues create wonderful contrast between the two halves of the quilt. The strip-pieced sails are an extra touch that makes the quilt, and the rows of stars tie it all together.

The magazine and quilt kits are available now, so snag your copy while you can!

Oh, and if you were paying super close attention, I did say our “first” magazine piece. We have more to come this year, but our lips are sealed until then!

Many thanks to the wonderful editors of QUILT and Simple Quilts and Sewing for their work!

  1. Super cute quilt and pattern! Y'all did a gret job of getting your 'ducks in a row'. LOL. Made me chuckle to see the ducks swimming past as if they were cued. It doesn't look like the Hill Country unless that's at Canyon Lake. My old stomping grounds. Oh, the memories! Congratulations on the first of many published quilts!

  2. I went out and bought the magazine after I read your blog…because I can see it in way different colors. As a grandma, I see "Red Sails in the Sunset" and now I want to sew them. Thanks for the tip, the pattern, and a great blogspot. Congratulations on the success of "It's Sew Emma." Keep up the good work. Carola in Idaho.
