Fall Quilt Market 2017: Schoolhouse Friday

We packed our notebooks, pencils, energy, and of course our cameras because we are back in school with Schoolhouse! We are going to be seeing tons of new fabrics that will be making their way onto our site and couldn’t be more excited to see the awesome creations you will be making with them!

We were very excited to showcase the gorgeous quilts made from It’s Sew Emma’s new book, The Cake Mix Quilt Book Volume One, at our Whip Up a Sweet Treat with the New Cake Mix Quilt Book Schoolhouse, sponsored by Moda Fabrics!

The final Schoolhouse and grand finale fashion show we went to was the Moda All-Stars Schoolhouse with Moda and Martingale! We saw all of the amazing rows, all made by Moda’s All-Star quilters, that the All in a Row Again book showcases!

We got to see Tula Pink’s new collections, All Stars and Pom Pom & Stripes, and the gorgeous Pom Pom Quilt! Fat Quarter Shop will be stocking the Pom Pom Quilt Kits in March 2018!

We got to see Violet Craft’s very first collection with Robert Kaufman fabrics, Palm Canyon! She also presented her new paper piecing pattern, The Barn Owl Quilt! The Palm Canyon collection will be coming to Fat Quarter Shop February of 2018!

We got to see the new book by Doug Leko, Stashtastic! He has 12 amazing scrappy fat quarter quilts in his book, and we were hooked on all of them!

Along with the Cake Mix Quilt Book Schoolhouse, we presented at the BOM: Bring on the Money with Marcus Brothers, which featured their BOMs for 2018, including the It’s Sew Emma quilt Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps! We showcased the Aunt Grace Basket of Scraps Block of the Month quilt and couldn’t be more proud of it.

We saw the amazing, exclusive work Free Spirit did with William Morris to present the Morris & Co. quilts!

And we saw the bright and colorful Cadence Court Quilt by Sassafras Lane! We are very happy to say that we also have a block of the month, that you can sign up for here!

We saw Elizabeth Hartman’s new collection, Terrarium, and the quilt she made from the collection, Delightful Desert! Fat Quarter Shop has a quilt kit and backing set for this amazing quilt, and it arrives February 2018!

We are all blue skies about Edyta Sitar’s new book, Patches of Blue, her rich new collection Crystal Farm and her upcoming fabric collection Sequoia!

We got to learn about the new Color Cuts Moda is coming out with and the versatility of Cake Mixes taught by Carrie Nelson!  More on the Color Cuts very soon, including this beautiful sampler quilt (drool!).

We had a lot of fun with Joanna Figueroa learning about her new collections, Hazel & Plum out this month, and upcoming Ella & Ollie!  We have lots of ideas in store for her new lines, so stay tuned for that!

We got to see all of the amazing quilts from Barb and Mary from Me and My Sister Designs’ new book, The Double Wide Dresden Book!  For tutorials on their Double Wide Dresden ruler, visit our YouTube page and search Double Wide Dresden!

And that was our full day at Schoolhouse! We loved seeing all the new and familiar faces and learning a ton about all that’s new in quilting!  There are so many things we have to explore tomorrow during Market, so keep following along!

After completing the full day of Schoolhouse, we went to Sample Spree where we, along with many other quilters, waded through the masses to see what fabric samples we could get!
