DIY Holiday Projects

With the holidays right around the corner and gift-giving on the mind, we created some simple projects that you can make in just a few hours. All but one of our free video tutorials are no-sew, and they only require some easy-to-find craft supplies. You’ll want to get your family and friends to join you for true holiday merrymaking!

Easy Fabric Ornaments

Kimberly Jolly shows you how to make these super quick and easy no-sew Layer Cake ornaments. With just a few holiday decorating items and some fabric, you can make the cutest ornaments this holiday season! Give your ornaments some personality with your favorite fabric or by adding some bells or sparkle. The plastic ornaments are also a great option if you have mischievous pets at home!

Painted Barn Blocks

Barn blocks are fun to make and decorate. In this tutorial, we’re using Lori Holt’s Chalky Chicks paint which dries fast and comes in a variety of colors. The beauty of this DIY project is that you can copy any quilt block design to make it your own.

No-Sew Scrappy Wreath

This quick and easy scrappy holiday wreath answers the question, What to do with all these fabric scraps? Cut all those extra fabric scraps into 4″ X 10.5″ pieces, and you’re halfway there. For this 16″ wire wreath form, we found that 100 or so pieces makes a fluffy wreath. We recommend putting on your favorite holiday movie, sipping some hot cocoa, and enlisting the help of a friend or family member for the best wreath-making experience!

  1. I love all of your videos! BUT – when it comes to to actually make something, I like to have written instructions. Are any (or all) of these video projects also available as a pdf? That would be awesome!

    1. Hi Sherryl, I totally understand! We have a PDF download with instructions for the fat 8th wristlet that available in the video description box, but no written instructions for the other ones. We’ll consider adding those next year.
