Designer Tidbits: V and Co.

Vanessa Christenson of V and Co’s first line from Moda Fabrics has arrived! We have been anxiously awaiting Simply Color. This colorful collection will leave you inspired, dreaming up projects and waiting for a Fat Quarter Shop package to arrive at your front door. Vanessa is here to tell us all about her debut collection, which you can shop right here!

Q: What inspired this collection?
A:Hm, well I grew up by the beach so I just assume that I was inspired by the color of what you find at the beach. The blue and green of the ocean, the bright colors of surfboards and bathing suits and just a fun airy feel to it.

Q: What is your favorite project using this collection?
A:The Bloom Quilt Pattern is a pattern that has been in my head forever, but I wasn’t able to ever make it until I had the right fabric. The ombre fabric in the collection is perfect for this quilt, so it’s my favorite because I was finally able to make the quilt just like I’ve wanted to.

Q: What would be your collection’s theme song?
A:California Girls by Katy Perry (haha!)

Q:If you could live in a movie, what movie would it be?
A:Um, I have no idea. I’m not a real movie watching gal and all the ones I like are “Mean Girls” and “Never Been Kissed” and honestly I wouldn’t want to do high school again. Just saying that my life now is better than any of the high school movies I watch. Honestly why do I watch those?

Q:What do you get nostalgic over?
A:The ocean, summer, sunsets, laid back talks with the husband.

Q:What is your favorite TV show of all time?
A:Friends. Can you tell I’m thirty something?

Q:What’s the strangest compliment you’ve ever received?
A:“You are unexpectedly hilarious.” Uh thanks? I guess the boring looking shell is not a dead giveaway to the hilarity that is in me.

  1. I'm looking for a fabric for the backing of my quilt that I'm working on. It's mostly from the " Winter Elegance " fabrics. just Google Winter Elegance", I'm thinking of a Black Blender for the backing. But I can't find one.
