Designer Tidbits: Lily Ashbury + Giveaway - The Jolly Jabber Quilting Blog

Designer Tidbits: Lily Ashbury + Giveaway

The Fat Quarter Shop is excited to welcome Stephanie Carter of Lily Ashbury to the Jolly Jabber. Lily Ashbury’s latest fabric collection is Summer House from Moda.

Q: What was the first seed that grew into the Summer House collection?
A:My Grandmother’s house on Bowen Island off the coast of British Columbia. I spent every Summer there as a child.

Q: What are 3 words/ images you would choose to describe this collection?
A:
1. Perfect Summer cottage circa 1940
2. Imagine an adorable little structure with white clapboard siding.
3. Sipping lemonade while swaying on the porch swing surrounded by a fragrant garden

Q: What single print/SKU in the collection is your favorite (can only pick one!)?
A:Rosemarie is my favorite because it has a sweet innocent charm. My family and I are moving into a new home in August and I am thinking of designing my daughter’s bedroom around it.

Q:What is your dream project using this collection?
A:When I was a little girl I remember wanting a bedroom filled with all things girly girl. Now I get to live vicariously through my daughter as we design her perfect room together. We plan to make a duvet cover, shams, curtains, wall art etc..

Stephanie’s Silly Secrets:

1. What music are you listening to right now?
Today I was listening to Bossa Nova but I often play the 1920’s radio network found in ITunes under the eclectic radio section. It is a sweet mix of Big Band, swing and soothing vocals.

2. What is your guilty pleasure food?
Mac and cheese all the way!

3. Work and life essentials aside, what is the activity you spend the most time doing?
Entertaining is definitely it. My husband, daughter and I love having friends over for dinner. A smile and a nice bottle of wine buys admission to my husbands gourmet cooking at least twice a week. I am very lucky to have a man that cooks!!

4. What color are you thinking about today?
Lately I have been enamored with Vermillion. I love a spicy warm red.

5. What is your favorite fabric print ever (excluding your own)?
For me it’s all about the color and I think Kaffe Fasset is a genius in this department. Of his prints many are my favorites.

Giveaway time!! Lily Ashbury has generously donated this Charm Pack and adorable tin to one of you lucky winners. To enter write a comment on this post telling me what your favorite print is in this collection.
You have exactly one week from the post date to enter.

Good Luck!

  1. I don't have a favourite print but I absolutely adore the whole colour scheme of the range. That's what got me hooked. Great florals in such bright saturated colours. Yummmm

  2. I like the Georgia prints, in just about any color. I don't have a daughter, so the more roses focused prints aren't as much my style, despite the fact that they are so cute. Kathie L in Allentown

I've been doing machine embroidery since 2003 and I have always been drawn to the embroidery designs that would match the Maxine fabrics. They are a perfect match to those in fact so I'm already thinking of things I can make using the fabric and my designs for when I can afford to buy this gorgeous fabric.

So yes, Maxine in any of the colorways is my top favorite from Summer House.
