Designer Select: Pam Kitty

Collaboration is a beautiful thing. Especially between two creative minds. Pam Kitty Picnic, the latest collaboration from Pam of Pam Kitty Morning and Holly Holderman of LakeHouse Dry Goods, is filled to the brim with nostalgic charm. You will want to eat these prints up! Keep reading for a closer look at Pam Kitty Picnic, and a chance to WIN one of Pam Kitty’s exclusive Designer Select Fat Quarter Bundles!

Q: Tell us a little about the Pam Kitty Picnic collection. What were you inspired by?
A:The funniest thing happened when we had our first planning meeting for what turned into Pam Kitty Picnic. We both had brought a collection of things for inspiration and reference. Each of us had a children’s book about kittens and puppies! Since we both love the same kinds of things, it’s easy for us to work together.

Q: How did you choose the prints in the Pam Kitty Picnic Designer Select Bundle?
A:I had so much fun selecting prints for the Designer Select Bundle! I knew I had to include some of my favorite things, like cherries and of course the cats and dogs! Holly and I have a print that we call Favorite Mini Floral and I included two colors, red and white. Of course no bundle is complete without some gingham, plaid and polka dots! Then I filled in with a little bit of every color so the Designer Select Bundle is a well rounded collection of Pam Kitty Goodness.

Q: What trends are you currently exploring?
A:COLOR! I love color! One of the happiest things about Pam Kitty Picnic, and all the Pam Kitty lines, is the wonderful rich color! In each collection we add new colors and I’m excited that with the addition of our new dots, we’ve gone into the pastel colors with ‘butter’, ‘baby‘ and ‘mint‘.

Q:What projects do you hope to see made using Pam Kitty Picnic?
A:I think Pam Kitty Picnic is perfect for the Quilty Fun Sew Along. I also hope to see people making my Tic Tac Tulip Quilt, which is a free pattern available on my blog. My favorite quilt that Holly designed for Pam Kitty Picnic is Lunch Boxes and I would love to see a lot of lunch box quilts out there. It’s so nostalgic and it takes me right back to the days of carrying my lunch to school. Holly has a lot of great patterns using Pam Kitty Picnic, you can find them here.

Q:What is the best part about having a fabric line?
A:I love seeing projects made out of Pam Kitty fabric. People sew with love in their hearts and being a part of that is wonderful. Of course it’s a lot of hard work as well, and I’m constantly challenged to learn new things. Probably the hardest part is working with someone as serious as Holly! But to really get serious, I really couldn’t be luckier or happier. I hope that’s reflected in our happy collection Pam Kitty Picnic!

  1. I would say number 1 too. I wouldn't have thought they would have that much time spare to look after all those animals. Thanks for the giveaway.

  2. Oh my love this collection and lve the pink and greens together! One of my fav combos! I am saying #1 isn't true even though they are animal lovers it looks like by their collection!

  3. I think number 1 is false. I have read on Pam's and Holly's blogs about the two of them getting together for coffee, so it seems like they don't live too far apart. Thanks for the chance to win some of this beautiful, cheerful fabric.

  4. This line of fabric is just adorable. Perfect for a baby blanket. I think #1 is false. Thank you for the opportunity to win some of this fantastic fabric.

  5. I know you both love cats and dogs, but 13 is just too many. Number 1 has to be false. Love this new fabric. I see another fat quarter bundle coming in the mail…

  6. it's #1. i read Pam's blog all the time and she posts photos of her cups of coffee and lives in my neck of the woods 🙂 i love all the PKM fabric–the colors and prints hits my aesthetic exactly!

  7. I just love this fabric line. I have made a quilt with fabric from LakeHouse Dry goods before and just love it. I think number one is false. Thanks for a chance to win your beautiful fabrics.

  8. I have a feeling #3 is false, not knowing where each lives – you can still start each meeting with a coffee (at the computer) and if you have a farm and all animals are pets, 13 still is not very much!
Just LOVE this Fabric and can't wait to make the Lunch Box Quilt and the Tic Tac Tulip Quilt.

  9. I am thinking #2 is false – starting each meeting with coffee! I thinks these gals love to talk quilts and designs and are too enthused to think abt or need coffee!!

  10. Ooh what a gorgeous collection!! I need it to sew with to fight the winter blues! I think number 1 is false. Fingers crossed 🙂

  11. Well, I'm thinking that No. 1 would be false, though it would be easy to have 13 pets if you had say, fish, horses, chickens…ah well, I'm still going with No. 1. Love this new collection!

  12. I'll have to go with #1 as both are from California and who doesn't like starting a meeting with a good coffee.

  13. These are always sooohard!!! So although it is against my own nature to say so, I will guess number 2 is the lie… 🙂 Darling fabrics!!!

  14. I am going to say number 3…that is an awful lot of work.

What great fabric…perfect for this girl who is just starting quilting.

  15. I think that # 1 is false. I've been waiting for this fabric line to be released – love the new colors introduced in Picnic!

  16. I believe 1 is the false statement. Wished this was in a layer cake especially the red colors. Would have made a perfect lemonade quilt for me and another little girl (10).

  17. Pam's fabrics are my favorites. They always make me smile. No. 2 is false. I know Pam starts her day and blog with coffee, but don't know if Holly is into coffee. I'm just betting the have lots of animals.

  18. Taking a big chance here…all three are false. Whew that was hard. Love love these colors and prints. You are right they remind me of children's books. Thank you for the chance to win your fab choices in this line.

  19. I am going to say #3 is false. Congratulations on another beautiful line of fabric, I love it!

  20. I too love the collection.
I am guessing that #3. I am believing the pet count because we came home from the pet store with one dwarf hamper and woke up the next morning with 5.
    Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

  21. Love, love this fabric collection. Going to say #2. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  24. I have no idea! I'll guess #1 is false, although it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility. I just bought my first Pam Kitty fabric last month to make Christmas gifts for my nieces. I know they are going to love the bright, happy colors and prints!

  25. I'm going to guess #2 is the lie. 13 pets sounds like a lot until I considered chickens, horses, and a few house pets. I don't drink coffee, so maybe one of them doesn't either?!

  26. I've cheated – done a bit of research – and I'm going to say NUMBER 1 is the false statement!!

I adore Pam Kitty fabrics and wish nothing but the best for y'all in the future! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the awesome giveaway, FQS!

  27. I'll pick number 3! Hope I get it! I love their fabric line and the colors! I'm new to quilting and the colors in fabric I've been seeing have just reeled me in! Great job ladies!

  28. I think Number 1 is false. I believe that Holly has 2 cats and a dog so that would leave Pam with 10 pets If she has 10 pets she would probably be too busy to design Pam Kitty Morning.

  29. Even though they both love puppies and kitties, I think #1 is false (unless you are counting the ones on the fabric! lol)
Adorable collection. Thank you for the chance to win.

  30. I think #1 is a false statement, but I'm sorry to say that I don't really know where these gals come from, either! i KNOW pam kitty loves coffee because she often has a coffee cup in her very first blog photo.
I LOVE LOVE the new pam kitty picnic prints!! The colors and the darling prints are just soso yummy! I can't wait to find them at my quilt shop. Thanks for all of the information and fun photos. Phyllis

  31. 13 pets….no way. That would take too much time away from quilting. So of course I guess #1 is false. Win or lose Pam Kitty fabric is so darn cute! Pat McDonald
