Designer Select: Kate Spain

The Fat Quarter Shop and Kate Spain have teamed up to present you with a Fat Quarter Shop Exclusive! Kate has specially selected 12 prints from her Terrain collection along with 3 coordinating Bella Solids for this special bundle you will only find at the Fat Quarter Shop.

Q: What inspired you to pick the colors and designs in your Designer Select Fat Quarter Bundle?
A: Terrain is the first line I’ve designed using some of my personal favorite colors including periwinkle, navy and teal so i was naturally drawn to using the cooler color range. Moda created two Bella Solids (9900-168 and 9900-175) to match the deep iris blue-purple and moss green, so when i picked the designs for the bundle i made sure to coordinate with the solids. The “Seedpod”, “Stonecrop” and “Forest Floor” prints stand out as among my favorites in the line so i couldn’t resist including them!

Q: What are 3 words you would choose to describe this collection, not including any of the fabric designs!
1. Vibrant
2. Saturated
3. Energetic

*2 Truths and a Lie*
1. I have gone bungee jumping off a bridge.
2. I won a hot dog eating contest when i was in High School.
3. I have a collection of over 100 Smurfs.

One of the 3 statements is false. Comment on this post telling me which statement you think is false. Answer correctly and you have a chance to win Kate Spain’s Designer Select Fat Quarter Bundle!

You have exactly one week from the post date.
Good Luck!

  1. I love the Terrain collection! Thanks for the chance to win some. πŸ™‚
Here's hoping I get this right so I go in the draw.
I'm going for No.1 as the lie.

  2. #2, winning a hot dog eating contest has to be false! I love love love terrain!! I bought a jelly roll, but I like it so much I haven't wanted to cut into it!!

  3. I think #2 is a lie πŸ™‚

LOVE this fabric – and it looks so different with the pink/orange pulled out – more for me than for my daughter…hmmmm.

  4. I'm going to guess #2. I've seen professional hot dog eating contests, and they're quite messy and kinda revolting (but fascinating at the same time, like a train wreck you just can't look away!)

  5. Uh-huh. This is a lot like Wait, Wait…Don't tell me on NPR. They all sound equally believable/unbelievable. I will guess that number 3 is false.

  6. I am thinking the hot dog eating thing is false, who would want to eat that many hotdogs in the first place???/ I love terrain, especially the cool side of it. But the warm side makes you want to get out of your chair and dance.

  7. well Kate, you did not say what size of hot dogs that you ate– hmmm – I am not sure which one to pick- I am going to pick #2 the hot dog one ..
It is beautiful fabric and someone is going to be thrilled when there name is chosen with the right answer.
    Regards from Western Canada,

  8. I think the lie is #1 bungee jumping. I love Terrain. I got the Fat Quarter bundle of the entire collection and am making the Terrain Project Sheet quilt as a king size–with 64 blocks. It is looking good so far.

  9. I think statement #2 – won a hot dog eating contest in High School is false. We all do dumb things in school, but that is yucky. Love, love, love your new line. Thank you for the truth/lie contest; these are always interesting.

  10. I believe that Kate may very well have bungee jumped from a bridge. And I do think she collects smurfs and has over 100 but I do not believe that #2 is the truth. #2 is false….maybe

  11. This is a really difficult one,, but I think statement #1 is false.. Hoping I'm right..
This is gorgeous fabric, my favourite of her lines so far.
    Greetings from the Netherlands

  12. chance to win the fabulous Terrain – I'm in – hope #1 is false cause that's what I'm picking πŸ™‚ thanks for the giveaway

  13. i think 3 is the lie – only because bungee jumping is something that lots of people have done and well we all do silly things in high school.

  14. Oh wow! That's a tough one. I'm going to say #2. Who wants to eat that many hot dogs anyway???

As for the fabric, I love it! I can see it hitting my stash pile when I get my next paycheck whether I win or not.

  15. The fabric collection is beautiful.

I have no idea which statement is false. However, bungee jumping is the least desirable for me so I'll go with that.

    #1 is the lie.

  16. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these new fabrics!! I would just love to win them!!

I think that you did not go bungee jumping. LOL!! At least I would not!

    Thanks for the great giveaway!!

  17. I'm going to guess #1. πŸ™‚

Loving this new line! The colors are amazing! "Saturated" is a perfect word to describe it!

    Thanks for the fun!

  18. I think it is the Smurf collection…hmmm, although, Smurfs are blue and she does love that color….Nope, I am sticking with the Smurfs as my answer.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Terrain collection!!!!

  19. I love the Terrain fabric!
I have no idea which statement is false. Since I'm not a fan of hot dogs I will go with #2. Thanks for the chance.

  20. Wow – could I ever use some of this – Terraine just happens to be my top favorite. Sure have my fingers crossed for this win. Thank you and thank you

Kate would not be bungee jumping-
    Judy C loves this opportunity

  21. I think #3 is false – I like Smurfs, but more than 100 of them? – I don't think so.
    Fine collection of fabrics.

  22. They each sound about as plausible or ridiculous as the other…I'm guessing bungee jumping (#1) is not true. My reasoning? Anyone can do something wacky in high school, like entering a hot dog eating contest–and even, winning it. And once you own one or two of something, like Smurfs, people just keep giving them to you, so I can see how you'd get to 100. I would love to win this drawing–thanks for the beautiful line of fabric.

    wordygirl at earthlink dot net

  23. Love all your fabric lines but this one just takes me over the top!!
I can't see you jumping from a bridge or winning a hotdog eating contest but you constantly suprise me with your fabric so I think anyone of those statements can be true.

  24. I think that the hotdog eating business is false but can't wait to see which one is really false. I love all your fabrics and that's the truth!!

  25. I don't think there are 100 Smurfs…but then with Happy meals, etc. it is possible. I will have still have to go with #3 as being false. I know she talks about the outdoors so, I can see her bungee jumping, LOL. Ya just never know though, do ya???

  26. I have to say that my guess is the bungee jumping from a bridge. You're way too creative to let your talents be in jeopardy of an injury. Love this line of fabric so much.

  27. I'm going to guess that option 3 is false. 100 Smurfs? That's crazy. Like everyone else, I'm a Kate Spain fan. Love Terrain's saturated colors. Thanks!

  28. I think # 3 is false. Why would you have 100 Smurfs?
Oh Kate this line is by far my favorite. I have two fat eighths ready to be used. You have outdone yourself! Thank you Fat Quarter Shop.

  29. I love these colors! I think bungee jumping off a bridge is a false statement and if it isn't then you are really brave. Thank you Fat Quarter Shop for the giveaway.

  30. All your fabric lines are fabulous, I'm in lust with them all.

The lie: mmmm, well I think it's #2 the hotdog queen = somehow I don't think so.

Thanks for another chance to win some of that terribly gorgeous fabric.

  31. I love, love, love Terrain and Kate's special selection with the solids is perfect! This is a trick question…. any one of those comments could be a lie… but I think that #3 is a lie (I mean how many smurfs are there anyway?)

  32. Kate's Terrain fabric line is fabulous! I think #1 (bungee jumping off a bridge)is false.

Thanks for the chance to win the give away.

  33. #2 is false. What I really want to know about Kate Spain is, has she gone ziplining?

I love the colors of 'Terrain'; they caught jumped at me when I first saw them.

  34. Well, I just don't have a clue what is the lie, πŸ™ but I am gona make a stab at the 100 smurfs. πŸ™‚ I LOVE Kate's fabrics, they are always so vibrant and rich in color.

  35. I'm thinking the bungee jumping just doesn't sound right. Absolutely love the colors of this line. So fresh and a combination that is so restful. A nice change

  36. i think that statement number 2 (winning a hot dog eating contest) is false! this bundle is gorgeous and i really hope i'm right! πŸ™‚

  37. The fabric designs and colors are beautiful. I hope the false statement is #2 and that I win the fat quarter collection.

  38. I think #3 is false.

I *love* the Iris solid. I used it in a quilt I made earlier this year. Hope to get my hands on some Terrain to use up what’s left.

  39. Well, since she wants to go skydiving and promises to do it on Oct. 10th, I would guess that she HAS NOT gone bungee jumping. So its false that she has gone bungee jumping. Love Terrain-bought some and love it.

  40. Terrain is gorgeous! Since you love the outdoors & we all did silly things in high school, I'm going with #3. That many smurfs is way too scary.

  41. I think you DO have a large collection of those ugly little blue guys, and I would bet that you also won a hot dog eating contest, so I'm going with #1, but I think that is something you would like to do. crossing my fingers that I am right!

  42. Love Terrain! I pre ordered a layer cake. The Designer Bundle is gorgeous.

I don't think you have 100 smurfs, so that is what I will say is false.

  43. 100 Smurfs? Surely there aren't that many left in the world!! Love the fabric bundle, the colors are out of my usual colorway but I've gotta have some!

  44. Love all of Kate's fabric. I think that #3 is false. Smurfs are vile (even if it turns out that this is true). Hey, I think you can like a girl's fabric, but hate her Smurfs, right?

  45. I think the hot dog eating contest is a lie because Kate loves her veggies and is a very active person and I just don't see her shoving hot dogs into her mouth. I absolutely love Terrain the blues are gorgeous.

  46. I think the #3 Smurfs is false. But if I am wrong I would love to see a picture. I love the Smurfs!!!! Love Terrain. Hope to win but if not I will have to buy some. Thanks!

  47. I'm hoping that #1 Bungee Jumping Off A Bridge is FALSE!

Thanks for the chance to win some fab-u-lous fabrics… luv em to bits!

  48. Oh my gosh! How to choose?!? I could sit here all day bouncing back and forth in my head:is it one? Two??Three??? Okay, enough procrastination…….I'll say #2 is false! (Kate Spain is just so petite that it's hard to imagine her eating one whole hotdog!)

  49. so, i'm going to say that #3 is not true. i don't think there are 100 smurfs (smurves?) to collect. I love this fabric line! thanks for the chance to win.

  50. I choose to believe you were never insane enough to bungee jump off a bridge! Your fabric bundle is just gorgeous. It would make a cool, comfy summertime quilt. If I start now, maybe I'll finish in time to use it next summer…

  51. I think #2 is false. I LOVE this collection – I bought the 10" squares to try to figure out which ones I wanted to get yardage in and still can't make up my mind – I love them all!!!!

  52. Terrain is such beautiful fabric!!! I'm gonna say the hot dog eating contest is false. Thanks for the opportunity to win πŸ™‚ Nurse Payne

  53. I am going with #2 the hot dog eating contest. Only because I have a collection of 100+ teddy bears and I know several people who have bungee jumped but I don't know anyone who won an eating contest of any kind so of the 3 I think that is the least likely (although still possible!)

  54. Kate, I did my homework and #1 the bungee jumping statement is false. You hope your Smurf collection will one day fund your retirement and you would eat hot dogs every day if they were healthy, right?

  55. I think the lie is the hot dog eating contest. Purple (smurfs) seems to be a favorite color, based on this special grouping. I love the addition of the Bella solids! Fun contest.

  56. I love all your fabric collections and just waiting to get my hands on terrain. I'm using your flurry collection for my christmas presents. I hope hope to win this fabric, crossing my fingers πŸ™‚

I think #1 is false, hopefully the gods of blogland will favor me this time πŸ™‚

  57. I think #3 is the false one. Although she creates beautiful things in blue, I don't see Kate surrounded by over a hundred of smurfs.

  58. I think #2, the hot dog eating contest is false.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    fourseasonsfarm at windstream dot net

  59. I'm guessing you didn't go bungee jumping. Terrain is beautiful. I'm still coveting some fandango I'm saving for a special quilt.Love your designs.

  60. I know you collect smurfs. And I can't imagine you winning a hot dog contest. But then, I'm always in for suprises.
So, I am going for #1
I look forward to see the real lie (o:

  61. I love the terrain fabric, and I have had my eye on the designer selection for your collection…gorgeous!
    I think #3 is false.

  62. I think #2 is the lie, because these eating contests are not something a teenage girl is going to do. I won a blueberry pie eating contest as a six- year-old, though, but I didn't even have to finish a whole pie. It was timed.

    trilliumcreates AT gmail DOT com

  63. I think #1 is the lie. (I don't know why I think its more believable that you won a hot dog eating contest – I'm not really buying that either.)

  64. #1 is false. Love the purple choices in your fabrics because ti is my favorite color!!! Great designs, too.

  65. No idea – the only one that freaks me out is winning a hot dog eating contest but it depends on who you were competing against…so I'll pick #1 bungee jumping is false.

  66. I think bungie jumping is true-and the hot dog contest is more interesting to me than the smurfs, so I am going to say the smurfs collection is not true. This is my favorite line of fabric. Just love it.

  67. Humm… I think that the hot dog eating contest is false. I absolutely love Terrain and have not so patiently waited for it to hit the stores!

  68. Well she made a Smurf baby quilt so she probablly had a collection. I think she is brave enough to go into the rough waters but I think she may have some trouble jumping off in places. Jumping off in quilting is a whole another story. Bunggy Jumping is the fib I believe. thanks for a wonderful bundle
    love to win it!!

  69. I love the idea of Kate owning hundreds of little blue smurfs and being a champion hot-dog eater, as they both sound a bit wacky (with apologies to hot-dog and smurf lovers everywhere!) I think that number 1 is false. Thanks for the chance to win, this was a fun contest :o)) – awesome fabric Kate, my favourite so far I think and they are all gorgeous xxx

  70. I thing #2, the Hot Dog Eating Contest is false.
Love the designs a la Central Park especially since I lived quite near the park for 7 years. Brings back great memories.

  71. It must be #2 – otherwise that would be a lot of hot doggity goodness.

Love the fabric – thank you so much for carrying the line! πŸ™‚

  72. I am guessing that #3 is false–That would be a lot of smurfs. I love this collection, especially the batch in this group–Gorgeous!

  73. I sincerely hope that #1 is false. Hope you had better since than to jump off a bridge held by a rubber band. Love the fabric. Thanks for the give-a-way.

  74. I think # 1, bungee jumping from a bridge, is false. You'd never catch me doing it. The TERRAIN collection is knock dead gorgeous! I especially like the fat quarters selected for the giveaway . . . just my colors.

  75. Wow that's kind of hard to pick but I'll go with #3. I can't wait to got my hands on some yardage. Thanks for the giveaway!

  76. I think having a collection of 100 Smurfs could be possible, I'm sure you probably have bungee jumped so I'm going to go with number two, winning a hotdog eating contest.

  77. I think #1 is false. I love this collection. Have the Terrain charm pack, just waiting for my quilt store to get the yardage. Thanks for the contest.

  78. I think Bungee jumping is false.
High school kids will do almost anything so that could be true.
I could easily imagine having a Smurf collection, a really big smurf collection. πŸ˜€

  79. I think it must be the hot dog eating contest … maybe when you were a kid — but high school? Naw! I am new to your site, but LOVE your fabric!

  80. I do not believe you have a Smurf collection. I didn't think people made or collected that many smurfs! I love your fabric line, keep up the great work!

  81. I believe #2 is false. I just bought new furniture and Terrain would go nice as a throw with it. Thanks for the opportunity to win some beautiful fabric.

  82. this has been the most confusion place to post. I've been trying since 10:30. somewhere in my reading I guessed it said you didn't bungee jump Who knows?

It would have been fun had I not found your blog odd to maneuver through

  83. I was thinking the Smurf one but then I found out there are over 20,000 collectible smurfs available!!!!
    So I think #2.
Because, maybe just maybe you are crazy enough to throw yourself off a bridge.

  84. Hi Kate,
I think #2 is false, don't think you won the eating contest.
As for the binding, the first one with all the colors would look great as the binding.
