Deck-ade the Halls: Vintage Ornaments

Happy Monday, everyone! Our latest pattern in the Deck-ade the Halls Quilt-Along is live and ready for its close up. Introducing Vintage Ornaments!

These shiny, retro inspired ornaments glam up the novelty Christmas quilt. The white star points allow you to use brighter, focal fabric in the body of the ornament, making it pop. Can’t you picture these beauties hanging from your Christmas tree? We might have to pick up some ornaments at an antique store this year to match our Deck-ade the Halls quilt!

The retro ornament fabric and grungy tones in Aspen Frost could not be more perfect for these Vintage Ornaments! We have kits and backing sets available if you would like to make our version of the quilt. You can find all the patterns for this fun novelty Christmas quilt in ourĀ Peppermint Lane Block of the Month Book.

The Vintage Ornaments are the smallest blocks in the quilt, and while they may look intimidating they are in fact quite simple! In our instructional YouTube video, Kimberly and Jocelyn will show you how to make (and press!) these small units, which will allow you to piece the Vintage Ornaments quickly and accurately. We know you are going to love making them, so dive right in!

Once you are done making these adorable ornaments, be sure to upload them (and the rest of your Deck-ade the Halls blocks!) to our Flickr Group! See the fun fabric choices, exchange tips and show off your blocks. And be sure to check back to our Deck-ade the Halls page in two weeks for the Santa’s Stockings pattern and instructional video. Happy piecing!

  1. Thank you so much for another great pattern, instructions and video – which I watch for every block set. I have my pieces already cut out and ready to sew together.

  2. I love this pattern. I am working on quilts for all of my grandchildren. I so want to make this so bad that I want to stop what I am doing and get started right away. Thanks for posting it.
